Dark Hole: Episode 5

Now: Episode 5

Timeline: Prior to Blackout

Looks like intro scene is pre-madness era as Choi is seen walking into Chairman's office. He gets quite an impression when the first thing he sees is Chairman brandishing his gun, cleaning it up and whatnot. He says that this isn't just any gun. It's a cool gun. Really, though, el presidente gifted it to him. Choi gives his inner Shania Twain "That Don't Impress Me Much" (oohhh Ohhhh hhooo ohhhhh) Choi actually dares to ask just how many lives have been affected at the price of this treasured gun. Chairman is full of pride and says it was all worth it. The oh so great world they have now (lol) wouldn't exist had he not got those traitors. Tense scene for sure. Choi doesn't like his view of violence and oppression but Chairman says nah. "My word is the law at this school." And points it menacingly..maybe at him idk but it's hella creepy.

Tae is communicating with Hwa Sun through the walkie in which is basically repeating the same ending scene as last episode and nothing new was presented other than telling Tae about there is a sentient being within the smoke but she calls it another "existence". Then spooky movement in the corners. I think this episode had a short run time because there was a good 4ish minutes of rehashing the last 4 episodes in a more compact run through.

Getting back on track at the high school is when Hwa Sun and the crew are ready to venture out. Before she took her leave Do Yoon runs up to her and in her own adorable way, shows just how attached she is to her. She tells her her full name, age and grade. Heh I was almost right about her age initially but she is 8 years old. After totally doxing herself, she asks if she will come back. Hwa Sun assures her she will. She's a tough ass chick. She then cracks a SMILE! Oooh a rare, rare smile. That's how you know she loves that adorable little girl.

Chairman is still unconscious but is put in his officer where Principal Song is holding vigil. The only one. He has a flashback when Chairman was torturing an alleged spy. He told this suspect to recite the South Korean Pledge of Allegiance but this poor is so shook so upon hesitation, Chairman interprets this as proof. He then waterboards him with scalding hot water. Holy shit that is terrible. Not sure yet on what involvement Principal Song has in it just yet. Not from what I can tell.

At the hospital floor, a woman approaches Doctor J to ask about how her mother is doing. She is a senior so the doctor says that it is best that no one else visit her until she is completely recovered. Remaining in quarentine. I wonder what the significance to this is. We have yet to find out.

Lee Soo Hyun is at her crazy black ass altar already with candles lit and everything. She is praying to...the black blobby circle. During the course of her prayers, there are scenes of Hwa Sun and her winces in pain. Next scene is when she finally appears in the black void praying to the black orb. Eerie.

While Hwa Sun is going up the stairs, she is wincing in pain, holding her head at the same time. Then proceeds to go up the stairs to meet up with Choi, Dong Rim and Jin Seok. She looks out the window and sees some of the black smoke To their surprise, the fog has once again retracted in correllation to Soo Hyun's prayer thingy. 

She removes her gas masks telling them that is is safe now for the time being but still be vigilant AF because this entity is still "watching" their every move. This is when she reveals to what she saw to them about the tentacles from the security guard attack but Jin Seok doesn't give a hoot and wants to keep going forward in their plan. He is kind of right though since the security is still bleeding profusely.

While Soo Hyun is praying, another woman comes up to her and refers to her as Sunnyeo. That was the woman was asking Doctor J about her mom. Sunnyeo dead ass says "DEAD". She erroneously assumed she meant her senior mother and starts wailing but gets corrected and says it's actually her husband who is dead. Wailing stops dead ass. Oh? Not sad your husband is dead? Sunnyeo casually notes that she is totally happy her husband is dead because he was a cheater. This sends this woman in a rage.

Hey but guess what?

Trust in Him. He will make it alllllll better. Who him? Sunnyeo gestures towards the black hole painting on the wall and casually walks away. A crowd is starting to gather and stare into the void that is the black hole.

Doctor J is walking the hallway and runs into the nurse that the late Young Shik was in a relationship with (she appeared back in episode 3). Doctor inquires about her specialty and position then applauds her for staying and not fleeing like many of the other nurses and doctors did.

While resuming the rescue mission, Tae is leading the trio as they are on the 5th floor now and looking for those darn survivors (!!!) but the young police hears the rattling of the black smoke then retracts back up the ceiling and alerts them. They all put on their gas masks. Tae theorizes the same as Hwa Sun, that this black smoke is following them. 

So what does this weirdo do?

Tae wants to confirm if this is true so he decides to take a look up there! Yo! Why?! Upon being lifted up by the shoulders, Tae takes a flashlight and looks into the vents. All seemed normal. But like literally the black smoke seemed to materialize and makes a rush towards him. He sends a mayday and he plops back down on the ground. 

Ooooh he dun goofed.

There is like a fucking PLUME of black smoke and is chasing then so all three are literally running for their lives dashing in and out of its wrath. They all manage to hide in one of the patient's rooms. The black smoke is seen retracting back up to the ceiling yet again. Tae's crazy ass wants to immediately go back out because looks like there was a reason why the smoke backed off. In fact, the smoke just wanted to spook them. Oooh and a-spook it did!

Sgt. Park has a hard time comprehending that this black smoke is "alive" but it looks like Hyun Ho is starting to grasp. 

So Tae Han just steps out and to no one's surprise the black smoke does not affect him one darn bit Park is bitter because Tae Han is totally taking the reigns when he wanted to be the leader.

Sunnyeo appears back in the main where the woman from earlier approaches her yet again but this time with even more admiration than before but this time, it looks like there's more people wanting to join in on this. She acknowledges how Sunnyeo was right when the dude who claimed to want to see his family would die if he stepped out. He did. She claimed that the husband was having an affair. He did. So now this woman says she has full faith in everything she says now. Crazy thing about this is that people behind are nodding in agreement.

With her resting emotionless face, she says if they care so much that they should kneel. Like nearly half the room falls to their knees. Sunnyeo whips out a compact with black charcoal powder and rubs it on the hand of the first woman and tells her to never wash it. This is what is being referred to as a talisman.

Well ain't this just fantastic.

Loan shark dude with the hair observes this from afar and seems a little too angry so he kicks off a chair and runs off. This seems to catch Sunnyeo's attention.

Alright well back to the rescue squad. Park is starting to get even more irritated with Tae as he just cannot stand Tae giving him, a police sargeant, orders. He still does peek his head and tells Tae that he spots a few mutants around the corner. So their cautiously collectively steps out and tread ever so lightly.

It looks a bit weird though because the mutants look like they are in suspended animation.

Scene quickly switches to Hwa Sun and her group trying to get into annex or the nurse's. This is when Hwa Sun gets a flashback

It's a flashback when her and her husband are walking in a shelter and having a chat about how different these foster kids' lives would have been if situations were different. This evolves when she asks her husband if he thinks that people can change? He says hell to the yes because all they need is some unconditional love. Afterall, he himself has changed when he met her. Soo Hyun is mentioned as she describes both of them as family. That being said, the husband says he can't believe that such a sweet girl like Soo Hyun was capable of the bad things she did. What are those things? We have yet to know.

Hwa Sun was on the stairs when she got that abrupt flashback and Dong Rim took notice of that and made her snap out of it when she asked if she was doing okay. She doesn't want to talk about it and says she is okie dokie and they both keep walking.

Back at the hospital, they finally manage to reach the room the survivors were originally in but as you probably remembered in the previous episode, they have long GTFO'd out of there. The dude is sad that his Ji Hye is not there!!!

So they attempt to communicate with the people in the security room but I guess there is still a disturbance. Tae figures they were just running away from mutants and looks at the map and pieces together that they likely went to the negative pressure room where the black smoke cannot penetrate. So off they go.

The only dude there at the security is trying to communicate back to them but is unable to get through to them. Dat sucks. THEN he notices in one of the screens is a door. He has a flashback to when he locked that same door to prevent survivors from taking refuge. A split second later the lights begin to flicker and then completely shut off. He takes off to check on the breaker box but to his horror, it was broken into and wires were completely sliced up.

Chairman in the highschool has had enough of the boy in the trio of friends group starts to complain. You know, just regular teenager problems. Chairman has had enough of this kid so he tells Principal Song to kick him out! Wow. An adult stands up to him and tells him how wack he is.

"Wack, am I?" and points a gun to him to get him to recant his words. Boo, you whore.

Hwa Sun suggests for Choi and Dong Rim to chill in the safety of a nearby classroom while her and Jin Seok clear out a route to get to the nurse's room. 

Around the corner is more of the mutants so Hwa Sun bangs a bar to get their attention so she can lure them all in a room. This room is connected to another room within the high school with a sliding door and the plan was for her escape to the clear room and lock all the mutants inside.

Except this is Jin Seok we are talking about. 

This fuck tard closes and locks the door on Hwa Sun with a shit eating grin on his face. He happily looks hoping to see Hwa Sun get ripped apart by these mutants. Somehow, she is able to escape because...plot points and she's the main character. Har Har. She manages to escape through a window and is clinging to that ledge for dear life. No, they are not on 1st floor that's for damn sure!!!!!

Meanwhile Choi asks Dong Rim if she is even scared of running into mutants but she replies that she s more scared of humans. How edgy. Choi is a little taken aback over her sudden change in perspective but before they could delve into further conversation in busts in Jin Seok all "Here's Johnny!" style.

He strolls on in and Choi is angry. So angry he slams him. Ouchies. Dong Rim has had enough and just walks out before things get worse so Choi follows her instead.

Hwa Sun is able to climb back in the school. Battered and torn but still in one piece. Is anyone even surprised?

Meanwhile Tae and the police officers are making their way to that negative pressure room where unbeknownst to them....

Survivor group is still being led by the imposter police officer who is shown to have cleared yet another hallway until he reaches a locked door! Luckily the only nurse there has her badge thingy to ring them in. Ji Hye is sttill in incredible pain but is able to get through the door. The 2 men patients unfortunately did not make it and get ambushed by the mutants!!!!!!

Police tries to close the door but it gets overpowered and both doors just burst open with the mutants and police officer dropped his gun. Ji Hye lookin like she is about to go into premature labor yo!! The nurse gets her inside an adjacent room and right when she is about to enter a mutant then gets her too!!!! No! 

Well ain't this the worst nightmare you could possibly think of?

Pregnant Ji Hye and the imposter police officer are the only ones who survived! She is disturbed when his facade like completely drops. He drags the nurse's dead body in the room so she can get her keycard. Disturbed at this revelation, she quietly grabs the key card which was just out of his sight. 

While he is busy rummaging through the room to try to find it, Ji Hye inches her way out of the room. Just in the nick of time when he is too busy throwing shit around trying to find it, she manages to sneak out and get into the elevator. He heard the beep and went mad dashing over there!!!! The elevator she was in closed before he could reach it. In frustration, he banged the closing elevator with his fist.

Tae and the REAL police officers heard this and head straight in that direction. Oh, boy!

All three tip top over to the scene his wife was BARELY AT!! It's at the doors where the 3 survivors got killed. They step into the room where dead nurse is at. However, they end up finding the imposter police officer who looks catatonic.

Officer Jo pleads with him to ask about the survivors but in a dreary and prolonging manner, he eventually tells Officer Jo that his wife is alive and in the elevator somewhere.

Speaking of which, Ji Hye was able to make it to the garage floor where she has to tread very carefully as there is a security mutant with his back turned. She hiding behind a car when she accidentally made a noise and now this mutant is backtracking back to where she is. The scene is hella intense because the security mutant has his baton out and lets it scrape against the car while circling her. She is able to make it inside the car.

BARK BARK!

Yes, there is a dog! A dog's bark that made this mutant chase after it. 

So Ji Hye is safely in the car but wait, it's a police car. Strewn around the back are papers. She just so happens to pick up a paper that JUST SO HAPPENS to be an inmate sheet with none other than that imposter police officer. So her gut feeling to GTFO was totally right! Scary shit bruh.

Tae is looking for any key card but the bad guy is sitting on a chair now is feigning remorse that all the survivors, sans Ji Hye, died because of him. He then suggests to Tae that it might be a better idea if they leave the hospital entirely and just leave Muji City entirely. Tae says well focus on getting out of this hospital alive first before they think that far ahead.

Officer Jo is sitting on the ground and dreading the thought of what his precious wifey is going through. Oh noes.

Okay remember that security guy that checked out that breaker box to find all the wires snapped? Well he found that behind the breaker box was a mysterious black circle branded. He goes on ahead and flicks a switch for a backup electricity.

While he is walking back he runs into Sunnyeo where she demands for him to describe what she saw. He is so fed up with this chick since he believes that she put one of her followers up to this. So he ain't saying shit. So she stares into his soul. With a smirk on her face she asks him "So you think you can run from them?" And she tanks at his left arm to see a bloodied mess. Which was speculated to that flashback of the locked door he had moments before. She holds out a key and it is all coming back to him now.

In this extended flashback he is seen running from the mutants and locks the door behind him immediately. A group of survivors come banging pleading to to be let in and it is horrible because there is a child there who got killed amongst the group when a pile of mutants were behind them. All he could do is just stare like a deer in the headlights as he dropped his key.

Horrified that he knows that she knows, she takes his hand and makes the talisman on his hand. She says to him that if he wants to live that he has to do when He says. Ahjussi then proceeds to go into the security room. He looks at the security cameras. He has trauma flashes when he sees the little girl from the crowd plead for help. He snaps and gets out of the security room. This is exactly when the Doctor comes in the room and asks if he is okay but he just says sure and continues to walk out.

It is the next day now at the high school and Choi, Dong Rim and Jin Seok have reached the nurses and have started gathering the supplies. Out of nowhere, a mutant attacks Choi!!! Jin Seok is a coward and leaves to let them 2 fend for themselves. Oh and he also took all the fucking medicine with him too.

During the scuffle, the mutant hard stomps on Dong Rims foot at a sideways angle so now she is limping. Choi managed to use his stape weapon thingy to kill the mutant. As soon as both of them exit the room they are swarmed with mutants so they run like hell to backtrack where they came from! Since Dong Rim is limping, they almost become casualities but coming in for the clutch, Hwa Sun pops out and guns down the mutants. Yay! Reunited! And it feels so good.

Hwa Sun tells Choi to hunt his ass down and get the medicine while she gets Dong Rim to safety to meet up wth them later. So off he goes and his little friend too. The stapler gun.

And it kind of sucks too because more mutants are springing out and are running marathons to get to them. Hwa Sun ends up shooting a window and they both jump off. I don't know how they are able to walk after that. But yeah, they decide to head to the gym so she can recover a bit more I guess.

They both enter the gym and lock it behind them. They also head up the stairs. Poor Dong Rim going up those stairs! Hwa Sun does all that she can to block the doors the best she can. They both have a seat and drink some water. Now hurry up and recover Dong Rim!

Jin Seok runs to the nearest bathroom and with the medicine he takes out the first pain meds he sees and injests in but his arm is all sorts of fucked up. It's still infected and it doesn't seem to be working so what does he do? He hits his own own. Yeah, that'll it!

Hwa Sun does some basic first to her foot and Dong Rim is wondering how she is so fearless and boss bitch AF. Then she says what she said before that while she she obviously does fear the mutants but people are the worst evil that she is most scared of. Her dad was killed in a hit and run and the person got away with it. That's definitely one of the many reasons why she feels the way she feels. Hwa Sun says that she believes that no matter what, bad guys will get their come uppance once way or another.

Tae at the hospital is right around the corner when something catches his eyes. He approaches someone sitting in a chair with a white sack over the head. Against Sergeant's orders to keep away he inches closes toreveal the same smiley face in red lipstick! He uncovers it and there is a syringe still embedded.

Dong Rim moves hair out of her face but Hwa Sun notices a red string around her wrist which gives her abrupt flashbacks to Soo Hyun who also had a similar red wrist band.  And then sees the white bag of red markings on it and she is taken aback.

Bottom floor of the hospital is when Doctor steps out of the room and runs into Young Shik's nurse girlfriend who claimed to be looking for saline. After she points her in the right direction, she politely tells her not to go in this section again. Uh ok? but Why?

Well, upon closer inspection, there is a a patient (the woman's senior mother!) where she is seen squirming and stuff BECAUSE SHE IS A MUTANT! Doctor has the mother with restraints and holy shit her eyes are red as fuck. I guess she was trying to find a way cure her but damn that is some hot tea 🍵
