Now Episode 4 "This Way Gone"

This is a flashback scene where Kristi is introducing Kenny, his mom and dad first get introduced to the hospital which is where Kenny's dad will be permanently housed due to his condition. He immediately detests this and is adamant that his wife and son stay here too. Kristi excuses herself so they can hash it out. Kenny calmly explains to him that due to a recent incident where he presumably almost opened the door at night that it will be best he stay here with the hospital staff. He assures him that they are not too far away and promises he will come to play chess with him every night and excuses himself to get the rest of his bags.

Kenny lets out an emotional sigh but it's short lived as Boyd comes strolling in front of him asking if he is okay as he caught wind of the scare the night before. Kenny reluctantly explains his father nearly opened the door to the monsters and pushed his wife and yeah. Boyd gives him an empathetic response and in the same breath offers him to be the deputy so they can work together. Very nice scene.

Cut to the modern timeline where the now deputy Kenny is running like hell through the dirt road to urgently implore sheriff Boyd the discovery he just made.

Tabitha is chilling in the house and her daughter comes in concerned with her demeanor. Tabitha is trying to put up a strong front for Julie but it is obviously this is heavily affecting her. She goes off to have a chat with her husband, Jim. And slams the door behind her. Nah, just kidding.

Ethan comes down the stairs and asks Julie where's mummy? Right when he asked is when Jade comes in and gives them a nice warming welcome. Just Jade being Jade.

Boyd and Kenny walk down the steps to show the mysteriously found Sarah who is just staring back at them like a scared puppy. Boyd kindly asks Kenny to wait upstairs while he has a one on one chat with her. Kenny isn't pleased but respectfully complies.

Without skipping a beat, he immediately walks over to her and uncuffs her from the chair. She says she's glad he got out okay but little did she know the wack ass shit he had just been through. First, he asked where the magical tree took her. Ummm here? Yeah, the tree actually teleported her to this exact spot. She was scared since, you know, she's wanted for attempted Ethan-cide so she just stayed there to seemingly rot for the past day or two. Next question: How the devil did she know about the tree's powers? She confessed that the little boy in white told her (that Boyd conveniently didn't see). Also with the truth bomb dropped that the little boy said they made mother nature (or whatever the equivalent) angry AF but the tree was the only safe refuge.

Upon asking if this boy in white is part of the voices she hears but she is adamant that it is completely different.

Sarah also woefully saying that as she is no longer welcome in this town, he knows what he has to do. I assume she is referring to "the box". Boyd doesn't want to go that route and walks back up the stairs to now have a chat with Kenny.

Kenny just anxiously walking in circles anticipating Boyd wants answers the second he heard his breath enter the room. Aye yae yae, Boyd is going to have a tough time explaining so much info to him in such little time. He does his best to explain Sarah from being connected to the town via the voices to Father Kahtri previous involvement and hoping to unlock the secrets of this unknown dark force keeping them here. Kenny is hella skeptical. Nothing really gets accomplished here nor to any agreement. The second Kenny mentions putting Sarah in "the box" Boyd snaps and is the first one to yell at him that no one is going in the box!!! He gets lightheaded and excuses himself outside.

He looks lethargic AF, he nervously looks at his hands and the worms are still having a wiggle party and he stumbles. Kenny aids to him and yells for people nearby to help him out.

Julie takes Ethan to Colony House like a good sister so he can chat with Victor. After Ethan goes running up the stairs is when Fatima is like "JULIE! BE MY BRIDESMAID, BITCH!"

Victor answers Ethan's knocks and expresses is unhappiness since Ethan let that fuckass Jade trash his room. I'm siding with Victor, man. Total invasion of privacy! He goes back to drawing. Ethan says how grateful he is that he helped his mom out. Then his kid brain asks like a million questions like idk A KID asking what he is drawing. New drawings of shit he saw the other night. Victor is obviously miffed about the whole ordeal and it gives short answers to the poor kid. He takes that as his cue to leave but before then he gives him some more drawing utensils and apologizes for making him him.

Julie takes a step outside to find Elgen who is just chillin by himself. Being such a sweet friendly girl she is offers an ear should he ever want to talk. That in itself is brief as Ethan comes out of the house in a sad state wanting to go home. Julie also taking her cue to take off, says adios to Elgen.

At the hospital now is when Kristi is checking Boyd's symptoms like his spider bites and it's not too alarming. Until she sees the gash on his arm but Boyd plays it off and says not to worry about it. He then has a mini breakdown and tries to get up but stumbles back down. Poor guy can never catch a break.

Now we are at the diner where Kenny is picking some food up for Boyd. How nice. His mom then brings up Kristi since she knows he has the hots for her. She is just inquiring on how he is mentally holding up. Kenny says that Kristi was always upfront about having a fiance after all and despite the odds of her actually being here he has no choice but to put up with it. He does want her to be happy, afterall.

Jade walks in the bar with only the bus driver. Being the drama llama he is was hoping to find at least one place to be alone but he takes what he can get and sits at a nearby table.

The bus driver, Bakta, shares her guilt that Elgen begged her to turn the bus around and she just plain didn't listen. She is just replaying that over and over in her head. Jade actually gives her some comforting words, actually. Rough start but it was yet another sweet scene.

Tabitha reaches the hospital looking for Jim and comes meets Mariella for the first time. and points her in the right direction.

She finds Jim at the sight of their dilapidated house but facing the bus. While they are talking the townsfolk are going through the luggage of the passengers because: communism. Anyway Jim confides to her about last episode. The voice on the radio warning him. He is starting to think this is some kind of fucked up experiment seeing how people would react to similar situations. Like some kind of Truman show or what?

Boyd back at the police station rinsing himself off and when he walks towards his desk and hallucinates the late father Khatri. I suppose this is a great way to demonstrate the internal struggle Boyd is trying reconcile with himself knowing how he is working with the very person that is responsible for the death of Kenny's dad and directly murdering Jade's friend. He is lying by omission and his conscience in the form of father Khatri is asking sure, Sarah may have value, but at what cost? In actuality it is Father Khatri it does no good to for Kenny to know that information. He is Kenny's backbone so keep yo fucking mouth shut. Damn, father dropping some bars here.

Over at Colony House, Jim goes up to Donna, who is frantic as fuck. He wants to confirm if she heard the voice on the radio since she was literally right next to him. Donna, already overwhelmed with dealing with the shit storm he triggered and Colony is even more shambles than before, says yeah, I heard it, WHAT OF IT?! He already got everybody's hopes up with the radio but implores to keep the voice on the radio a secret until they can find out more.

Conversation gets interrupted when Randall, the rageoholic, is peeved at people going through his bag. Donna tries to deescalate the situation but this military cut looking motherfucker puts on his mad dog face and says he doesn't give a hoot about they way they do things around here and will clock out anyone who touches his shit again. He takes his bag and storms off. Nice guy.

You that to go box that Kenny was saying was for Boyd? He's a little liar, his pants should be on fire because it was actually for Sarah and uses this as an excuse to interrogate her. He is rightfully stern with her and despite his aggression (by Kenny standards anyway) He tries to rationalize why TF she would even listen to these voices anyway and try to murder Ethan. He doesn't.

Fatima approaches Donna in the kitchen so see how she is holding up. Donna realizes that she is not one to be walked over so she ends up picking up an ax and makes a beeline over to Randall. He calls her bluff so she swings the ax through the wall. He relinquishes. She has now banished him to the bus. If he doesn't want to live by the rules of Colony House then #buslife it is.

Boyd comes across that elderly dancing lady and she introduces herself as Tilly. Well, Tilly says deputy Kenny is at the hospital.

He walks in to see Kenny just staring at the spot where his dads dead body was found. He expresses a lot of sorrow and that her mom and also Sarah told him that she was the one who opened the door to let it happen. He is furious at her for being responsible for his death and also furious at Boyd for not telling him. He wants Sarah in "the box" and throws his deputy badge on the ground and dramatically walks out.
