Dark Hole: Episode 4

Previously on Dark Hole

Now: Episode 4

Flashback time to when Tae was a police officer. He comes home to his annoying little brother who is a gamer. He recently received a report that his lil bro was caught stealing from a claw machine. He confronts him and he big mad. This ain't his first rodeo and it is clear that lil bro doesn't give a shit even outright denies he did it. Tae tries to take him in to the station but angry at this accusation, bro GTFOs out of there. almost immediately he receives a call from the station that they caught the real guy. So his brother really was innocent. Oopsies.

Tae goes over to to the gaming desk and sees a cased watch attached with a note with a big congrats on being a police officer and promised to buy a real one later. That's what he went to the claw machine and got. Like, legit earned it.

He goes outside to see where his brother went but he hears a car crash. To his horror, his brother got in a fatal car crash. He runs to his aid but he is a goner. Holy shit that's so sad.

Flash forward to current hell on earth is at the hospital when the lady doctor and a few of the other personel rush into the security room to see the survivors in the closed off surgical floor. Oh, yes there are survivors and as stated before, the pregnant wife, Ji Hye, is one of them. Screen goes black and her husband freaks out even more. He literally thought she was at home but with her due date coming up, she went there. Check up or something.

Meanwhile Hwa Sun and Do Yoon are cautiously making their way through the hazy fog where they have to creep past various dead bodies. They open the gate and proceed to keep walking when in comes a few of these infected people. Both make a run for it but holy shit these infected mutants can run and jump too!

Hwa Sun places Do Yoon in the car where she can be safe while she battles it out like a bad ass. Of course, it isn't without struggle. She uses what little bullets she has but the 2nd zombie mutant pops up too and she shoots more and more of these guys until she runs out of bullets and straight up uses a rod to bash their brains out. Gnarly!

When all is said and done, she turns to her left and sees 2 more figures approaching her. Lucky for her it is the security guard and the teacher who broadcasted the original message. While all 4 are on their way back to the high school, one of the baddies jumps the security guard. Hwa Sun tells the teacher to take Do Yoon inside so she can help the security guard. 

They both look around and holy fuck there is like a LOT of mutants that are emerging from the shadows. Like, wut.

Teacher and Do Yoon manage to make it inside and he longingly stares hoping to see the other two come back in one piece. Or 2. you know, since there's 2 people out there still. 

Now we are back at the hospital where the murder lady is repeating that same line as she was previously: "Anyone who doesn't take me in shall die." Over and over again. 

At the same time she is chanting this, Hwa Sun is wincing in pain, holding her head while her and the security guard are beginning to be surrounded with almost no hope to escape. Quite the contrary, actually. They seem to be backing off! They all slowly walk away even though Hwa Sun lookin' like she about to keel over. 

The stars have aligned and the haze starts to clear out and they are left unscathed. The teacher runs to her aid and helps them back inside the safety of the high school. Yay!

Once the door is resealed upon their entry, the chairman comes storming in and gives the teacher a five fingers to the FACE in front of like everyone! He big mad that he risked the safety of everyone there. Risking the smoke to infect them and stuff. He continues to yell and berate him but teacher says...but did u die? Well, he doesn't say that exactly but he said that he result is that NO ONE GOT INFECTED and he should stop dwelling on the would've could'ves. He decides to have big balls this time because he actually defends himself much more this time around accusing chairman of feigning sympathy for the survivors there and he ends it with calling him FATHER?! NANI?!?!? Is that really his father? He sure as fuck ain't a priest dude I can tell you that much. Maybe we'll figure out what he means by that later in the series.

Chairman is about to slap him again but Hwa Sun intercepts this time and drops the bomb that she is a police officer and threatened to arrest him if he don't cut that shit out. In front of all the students and grownups? Come on, now. 

Chairman retracts but he doesn't believe that Hwa Sun is not infected. With a shit eating smirk on his face he says that time will tell if she is really infected or not.

Now we are back at the hospital where 2 random dudes are looking out the front doors and also takes notice of the smoky haze starting to go away. 

Meanwhile not too far away the police officer is trying to make his way up to his wife but his superior is dead ass not allowing him to go. She'll be fine with the other survivors until then. Tae is not too far away from earshot so he volunteers to head on up there to rescue those survivors, despite the risks involved. 

Any one care to help this hunky man?

Well, not much. The 2 guys from earlier and starting shit with him until that diabolical loan shark dude with the stupid ass hair cut marches up to him and says "Uhhh...aren't you that police officer that got fired for taking a bribe?" 

Oof another flashback, my guy! Police officer Tae is seen walking out of the officer telling the officer Park Soon II he got fired. He seems to be taking Tae's firing a little off if I do say so myself. Tae assures him that he'll be a-okay post-officer life. He doesn't sweat it one bit. 

So the dude with the dumb haircut taunts about officer Park Soon that had a connection to his firing. This seems to trigger Tae so he pushes the asshole to the ground and continues on with his rescue mission. 

Yeah so no one wants to help and it is just those 2 peeps. Oh wait, officer Park finally decides to join them! Jolly good then.

Armed with an ax Tae leads the way for their current mission to help those survivors up there! Officer Park has some head gear, with lights and stuff so yeah, that might be of some great assistance there. Onward and upward as they say!

However, there are mutants that are freely roaming the hallways and Ji Hye is starting to get contractions!! Oh noes. There is a nurse there who pleads with her to try to get her yelps of pain in check as to not alert these zombie mutants. 

There's not too many people in this room. I think there is like 6. Most are patients with 1 nurse and 1 police officer. They have no way of knowing if there is anyone even coming up to save them so they are all weighing out there options on what they should do.  Should they wait a little bit more until the coast is clear? Should they just go anyway? Do they trust that someone will eventually come save them? Who knows? 

They decide to go for it. Like, stepping out of the room for the safety of this mother to be. Before they leave they are trying to gather any weapons that could be used to help.

In the high school now where the teacher approaches Hwa Sun to check how she's doing. She doesn't hesitate to thank him for his help. While he's there, she says she believes that the reason those mutants moved away was due to the high frequency sounds that only she heard. Weird!! He swears he didn't hear anything. More interesting yet, she drops a bomb ass theory that these mutants are being controlled. 

I don't even think this teacher has ever been properly named, right? Well he finally introduces himself as Mr. Choi Seung Tae. Cool now we have a name and I can stop calling him the young teacher guy.

It is now night time and inside this hospital is an unknown young man in a hospital bed. Him and another man are outside some kind of barn and one man is just yelling at him then proceeds to slap him. The one being slapped is in the hospital bed and was recollecting that memory. His eyes are open now and looking at a closed curtain. When the murder lady appears at his bedside to tell him that he is the chosen one and he will meet "him" soon. Uh ok?. He gets out of bed and is getting ready to walk when the lights begin to flicker.

 In the security room there is just one guy who takes notice of the lights flickering too. The nurse lady walks in and sees how much his shit is shook but doesn't voice his concerns. Not really anyway. He is giving her the update on Tae and his team making their way around the corner. He excuses himself to check on the generator.

Speaking of Tae, he begins clearing the corner. He is the first to walk ahead of his group with his hot ass weilding an ax. Wondering what is the best route to take, young officer communicates with the young nurse at the security room to give them the go ahead. So they continue to tread lightly in this dark end hallway until they reach a door for the stairs I think?

On the floor of the hospital with the man group, one man is starting to wig out because he misses his wife and kids but one of the nurses there tries to talk him down. I'm afraid she is outnumbered because many other people join in and say they are going to leave the hospital. They think since the smoky haze has cleared therefore the worse is over. What dummies. 

Murder lady starts talking in a baby voice and keeps referring to the first guy as "dad". Yeah, sooooo weird, right?! She goes up to him and says not to go and not abandon "us". The man starts to get the creeps but then murder lady starts going apeshit screeching and hollering. Uhhh yeah it's not a good sight at all. Dude is like WTF is up with this chick?! Then slaps her. WTF is up with all this slapping in this episode?!?!?

She then deadass says that he will fucking die if she chooses to leave and everyone will be a witness to it. He scoffs and leaves.

The turns around and just stared BAH! he doesn't give a hoot. He continues to keep walking and so does some of the people who originally wanted to leave. They got what they wanted.

In no time, mutants starts popping out of the woodwork and starts attacking the people formerly known as survivors. They all got fucking slaughtered one by one! 

The people inside were like OMG SUNNYEO WAS LIKE TOTALLY RIGHT!! Now we know her name. I'm confused at this revelation.

The shady haircut guy is like totally side eyeing her. I guess shit ass recognizes shit ass.

Back at the high school, chairman walking down the hallways inspecting all the taped up windows with the security guard and some other older dude close behind. He throws a shit fit when one of the nails was discovered to not been hammered in properly. Security guard replies back that they are just kids so like....chill the fuck out. 

This gets interrupted when a tray gets knocked to the ground and oh what a surprise that it's that Jin Seok dude being a bully to one of the teachers there. Mr. Choi intercepts and tells him to cut it out but of course Jin Seok is like "Yo, you expelled me so I don't have to listen to ya." Hwa Sun also comes out and tells him to cut it out.

He lunges at her but she slaps him into submission. Not once but twice! This idiot still tries her but pathetically fails. Now he is hella embarassed I bet Dong Rim is pleased. He tries to gather what little dignity he has left and storms out of the cafeteria. 

Not too far away, Do Yoon is looking outside a window where another little boy named Chang is looking as well. When they spot a baseball, Do Yoon sees the gun Hwa Sun previously dropped which triggers a flashback back when she was with those church freaks. She was laying on the couch when she wakes up and sees bullets by the table. She decides to open the window to hop out and get it. What a brave child! 

To the Chang's surprise, she walks past the baseball and makes her way to pick up the gun. Little does she know that the black smoke is materializing and it making its way over to her. The little boy alerts her but in her panic to get back, she trips. She is like a deer in the headlights and stares at the smoke ready to accept her fate when Hwa Sun comes swooping in with her gas mask and all and brings her back in side.

I suppose the kids had eyes on them this whole time. 

When they get back inside the school, Hwa Sun yells at Do Yoon asking WTF she was doing out there?! Do Yoon shyly says the gun. She risked her life to give her back the gun because she's like...a detective.

Hwa Sun doesn't say anything back because Choi plays "good cop" this time around and tells her gently Mister's Roger's style that she shouldn't be putting herself in unsafe situations like that. Had a real warming fatherly talk and Do Yoon is much more receptive to this stance.

After Do Yoon rejoins with her friend, Choi lightly reprimands Hwa Sun for being so harsh with the girl because it was actually a selfless act. She was thinking of her while making that risky decision. He advises her to open her heart a little more and then takes his leave.

Still inside the high school in the cafeteria where everyone is sleeping, or trying to, 3 friends (the 2 girls and the 1 guy) and just casually joking around with each other but seems to reeeeeally piss off Jin Seok as he is trying to sleep and tells them to STFU but since Hwa Sun knocked him down a few pegs the 3 friends are like GTFO ya dork so Jin Seok storms off and walks elsewhere.

Do Yoon is sitting by herself not far away when Chang's mother comes and invites her to eat with them. So sweet! I hope it stays that way.

Jin Seok is in the hallway and manages to catch Dong Rim all by herself and like the idiot he is decides to accost her. Dong Rim ain't having none of that. She shows how she is totally not scared nor intimidated by him at all. He keeps threatening to kill her and all but Dong Rim is just like sooooo unphased. She's like "When you come up with a creative way to kill me, let me know k bye." and walks away. Jin Seok is butthurt and as she is walking away, he pulls up his sleeve to shove how messed up his arm is (due to the black crap that got to him earlier).

While mostly everyone is asleep by this time except for a select few. Hwa Sun mainly. She is back in the tent encampment inside the high school but Do Yoon is already asleep and it looks like Chang is also crashed out not too far from her. Hwa Sun is thinking back how maybe she was a little too rash on the child since she did go through some very traumatic things. She realizes that after the little girl lost her mother, then proceeding to immediately save her from a psycho christian doomsday cult Do Yoon now clings to her as a new mother figure. So I think it's safe to say that Hwa Sun feels some guilt right about now.

Choi approaches her with a blanket. Hwa Sun does indeed voice her concern on how she should proceed with her influence over Do Yoon but Choi gives her advice to not be such a try hard and just be there for Do Yoon. That's all she needs.

That was quite the long break from the hospital bois, right? Well, we are back to resuming the hospital rescue operation is coming along. Doctor Han Ji Soo checks in on them via the walkie from the security room to suggest a better route to take. All 3 are currently on th 3rd floor at this point and they clear it.

Now 4th floor.

The survivors have decided to take their chances and make their escape. They are seen peering over the corner led by the only police officer there. 

Doctor is still in the security room when the other dude returns. She is taken aback when she notices on the camera that the rescue team is headed towards the pressure room, which is where the black smoke cannot penetrate. She attempts to communicate this to the team that the survivors are on their way to be on the 4th floor too but the signal is weak and Tae now the others can understand. Only a fraction of her message got through and they are hella confused. Oh and she seems to recognize the Police officer leading the survivors but she can't quite place it yet. Hmmm....

Officer Park Soon aggressively takes the walkie to tell her to speak clearly but Tae tells him to shush because...mutants yo. Out of nowhere a glass bottle comes rolling in from a completely sus angle so Tae and everyone else hide behind pillars. He takes his ax and fucking SWINGS!!!!

AAhhhh! It's a mutant ambush!!! From the opposite side of the room a dozen or so mutant come running for them so the 3 make a mad dash out of there. Holy fuck. The 2 run to the stairway up to 5th floor but Tae is straggling a little bit. He closes the door but damn he is no match for all those mutants putting their body weight against the door so he decides eh fuck it and runs as fast as he can up the stairs to catch up with them.

All three make it up to the door just in the nick of time. Tae got spooked for a hot second when he saw Park point a gun at him but it was really to shoot the baddies, ya silly goose!

On the bottom floor of the hospital is Soohyun doing some weird witchy thing spreading blakc ink on a wall in a circular motion while whisper chanting "Anyone who doesn't take him in shall die." Subtitles are giving me mixed translations I wonder if this is intentional or human error? She eventually stops and stares at this....DARK HOLE! After a job well done, she trots away.

This dark hole I speak of is now HD! Hwa Sun shown in it. A male voice is heard talking to her about what her desires are that are be quickly fulfilled. And this is when we finally know more context when this voice says:

"Take me in."

Hwa Sun is staring at the ground which is strewn of bodies of previous victims who succumbed to it. Young Shik among others. She turns out and this voice is coming from a floating black orb. Fucking hell that gave me the dread drop. It says again to say her desires and she may fulfill her revenge. This voice is totally giving HIM vibes from Powerpuff Girls.

As she faces the black orb, she asks who it iz and why it stopped attacking so randomly. The black orb replies for the lolz. Tentacles emerge from the orb and jolts at her.

She springs awake. What a nightmare! Or is it???

Jin Seok catches her eye as he is seen abruptly leaving the cafeteria so she decides to follow this punk ass.

Not too far off is the security guard making his rounds to check the integrity of the nailed shut windows and such. He walks to the door and notice a padlock is open. Before he can say much, some unknown monster from above pounces on him! Noooooooo! I really like that gu!

Hwa Sun is forced to stop tailing Jin Seok so she can follow the screams but it is too late. She does get a glimpse of a tentacle thing retracting into the darkness from within the school. Well, that's just great. He's dedz. Choi comes running up at the same time. Oh wait, security guy ain't dead yet actually lol I spoke to soon. More people come to aid and bring him into another room in hopes of treatment. 

Jin Seok is at the end of the hallway where everybody rushes past him and this dude just don't give a fuuuuuck.

Once inside the room a doctor on site says that the treatment they need to help save his life is at the annex but it is full of mutants but they need it quick as he will go into shock due to blood loss or something. Hwa Sun volunteers in which Choi objects to. She quickly says that him and Choi risked THEIR lives when her and Do Yoon were by the gates. I guess she wants to return the favor to this security guy. How sweet.

Right when she is about to take off the chairman comes marching in and forbids her to be a hero. He has a whole group of people behind him too. Not like body guards or anything but slightly lower level "yes men" if I had to guess. He is pretty butthurt that she won't bow down to his rule but he does give her an ultimatum: If you risk your life to get the medical supplies then you have to immediately leave the high school.

Without skipping a beat, she agrees to these terms.

However, this chairman is like literally the opposite of the church freaks who originally wanted Do Yoon to stay but Hwa Sun to leave. Now Chairman wants Hwa Sun AND Do Yoon to leave. WTF!

Choi again refers to chairman as "father". Oh dear.

As one of the original group Chairman came in with, Principal Song speaks up and says he is a bit rash to kick out Do Yoon too as she is obviously just an innocent child caught in the middle of it. Chairman tells him to mind his beeswax.

Dong Rim comes in for the clutch and takes a heavy object and smacks him and chairman falls like a sack of potatoes to the ground. I guess she wanted to move the plot already. Jin Seok is right behind and is like 😯 Dong Rim says she can help Hwa Sun and in fact, she knows a way to safely get to the annex. She draws on a white board a map to do so.

Just those 3 are in another room all by themselves. Of course it can't stay three. 

Jin Seok walks on in and asks to join in on the fun. Hwa Sun and obviously everyone else are skeptical. I'm calling it now, his turn over a new leaf act is so darn obvious. I hope I'm but I'm pretty confident this dude is up to no good.Well, his sketchy ass just might have some use in this instance. The group all start making their own weapons in anticipation of battling against the mutants. 

At the hospital, Tae walkie gets a ping from Hwa Sun. She tells him that this is bigger than just black smoke, there is an existence (as they call it) within the smoke.Before more can be spoken, they hear ominous movement.

Timeline: One Day Before

There is a crucial scene shown that just before the city went into blackout, there is a patient that just arrived to the hospital but is handcuffed to the bed. The Doctor gives some random info and walks out. The police officer talks with chief something about this cuffed fellow ingested pesticide and awaiting to be pumped from the IV. Literally right in the middle of the conversation is when the city goes black.

Everyone is the hospital is running rampant as this police officer looks out in the hallway.

When he turns his back, the cuffed man is no longer cuffed. He sneaks behind him and strangles him to death! It a quick succession in events flashed before our eyes it's revealed that this man took the police officer's clothes and you guessed it, he is THAT EXACT POLICE OFFICER LEADING THE SURVIVORS ON LEVEL 5 IN THE HOSPITAL!!!!!!

Doctor absolutely did have a reason to remember him because she was the one saw his ass when he first arrived in the ambulance! Aaaahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
