Episode 9 "Into the Woods"
Boyd and Sarah venture out in the woods and when they finally reach the same place where he originally found the talismans and tells them they're going to camp out there. Sarah protests as it's not even close to sunset. He explains to her that he has never been beyond this point and being uncharted territory, it is in their best interest to keep it safe.
With more survivors from Colony House to uhhh house, Donna puts the remaining people at the police station. The drunken dude that started a fight with Ellis 2 episode ago throws a piss at Donna with his pessimism. It's clear his negativity is getting under her skin and as just tells him to deal and cope. Not too long later, a man took his own life in the bathroom.
Meanwhile Tabitha is continuing to dig in her basement as she continues for the source of the electricity, she ends up hallucinating the events leading up to her child's death and she writhes in emotional torment.
The men and women have a good start in constructing their antenna thing
More tense conversation between Boyd and Sarah because she thinks walking will just teleport them back into town in the same ways cars looped back when people become initially trapped. He doesn't want to hear it so he changes the subject back on her on why she even thought the voices were telling her the truth begin. As is totally doesn't make sense to kill an innocent child in order to go home. She says that the voices told her things that would later turn out true such as the 2 cars that got in an accident in the pilot episode. Eh well after a few more words, Boyd decides to ease on up on the poor girl (he was one of the first if not THE first to theorize about the town changing people) and removes the handcuffs.
Tabitha and her kids are going through Victors drawings (that's what he told Julie to take in order to help her go home). Ethan believes is this part of their "quest" and his drawings are part of a puzzle they need to piece together to a more linear timeline.
Jade and Jim and together further trying to construct more shit out of their batteries. They gathered all the car batteries they could but Jade is starting to crack a little. Even though they have the same goal in mind, they are still budding heads so he ends up dipping.
Kenny go checks in on Donna as she is taking it particularly tough. After trying to attempt to calm her down it instead has the opposite effect and makes her snap so she ends up grabbing a hammer and trying to retrieve wood from the floor in the kitchen to a stunned Jim and Kenny. Very unnerving but she snaps back to reality and steps outside to cool down.
Sarah tries to make conversations but Boyd ain't having it. She also gets the side eye when she says he reminds her of her late brother. Well, it's because he tends to put the needs of others before himself which how they both ended up in the town to begin with. She also mentioned that he shared a theory with her about this town that the more you push to try to escape the town, the more the town would push back. Before he can answer, they hear clinking and clanking sounds so they follow the sounds to a tree with hanging glass bottles like wind chimes. While Boyd is investigating, Sarah goes into a violent seizure.
For the first time, Donna visits the makeshift bar where Kenny is not too far behind her. Donna is starting to get more cynical and that is starting to piss her off that while the antenna theory is just nice to get people's hopes up but if it fails, this will be the biggest letdown. And she will have to pick up the pieces.
She is grieving the loss of what the almost made this town. They were starting to accept their current reality as their normal reality and blames the antenna theory on getting people's hopes up to escape. The Colony House represented happiness AKA distraction from the real problem and now it's gone and they all have to face just how shitty their new reality is again. She says she is ready to accept to get behind the antenna but Kenny needs to be prepared for the fall out as this is the highest hopes yet and you know what they say people with the highest hopes with have the highest anger to that failure.
Ellis stops by Jim in the kitchen to chat.
Being the new sheriff at least until he's awaiting for Boyd to come back, is now the bell ringer signaling the sun setting. He spots a sulking Kristie nearby so he tries to comfort her. She was close with the man who killed himself so she's trying to cope the best she could. She in turn says that if the antenna won't work or he don't work (mentally) then please go to her for help...in a totally platonic way I assume.
Jade is back at Kenny's house and is just ranting out loud while Kenny's mom is washing dishes. All he does is complain and she had enough of this shit. Apparently, something is ringing a bell with him concerning the electricity and he gets an idea.
Jim returns home to a disturbingly optimistic Julie who is turning a new leaf. She is thinking that maybe Ethan is right that maybe they were supposed to come here to the creepy town because the silver lining is that through the doom and gloom, it brought their family closer together. Maybe low key hinting that he shouldn't go through with the divorce or something lol. NUDGE NUDGE.
Whole family is in the basement continuing their dig. Holy fuck, Tabitha thinks she has officially reached the bottom.
Camp has been set up now and Sarah comes to and shares that she heard a new voice this time. A woman saying that what she is currently doing is wrong and they shouldn't be there. There are worse things out here than monsters. And to tell "Mr fishing bulbs I was wrong."
Back to Boyd and Sarah. They hear cracking off in the distance and their tent gets tossed with them inside like rag dolls. Nothing is making sense!! Super freaky!!! Once the tent stops the turbulence, Boyd searches for the talisman to return it back to the top of the tent. As he does so, he sees a light penetrating the tent and hears...honking????
The SEASON FINALE is next.
