From S1E6
Episode 6 "Book 74"
Father Kahtri is doing his sermon in front of a small group in church meanwhile there is a collage of various characters lying in the aftermath of the attempted murder of lil Ethan. Wild stuff he preaching like we have to adapt to chaos. Stumble to chaos. Submit to chaos. Trust the chaos. All a part of god's mysterious plan. Amen.
Tabitha stops by and gives Father an update on Ethan. Poor thing is traumatized since Sarah was such a sweet young lady and can't fathom why she would want to hurt him. In the same breath she discusses everyone's existence in this town. She asks if they are all already dead.
"Does it matter?" He replies. What a very unorthodox priest dude I tell ya what.
After she takes her leave, Kahtri strolls on over to to a hidden room within the church and descends to who other than Sarah who is tied up in a chair. Dun dun DUNNN!
Boyd and Kenny are conversing whilst burying Nathan's body. Obviously no one can fathom how Sarah made this drastic switch. Boyd is further questioning and making a further connection to people losing what made them human, including Kenny when he said something in distress. He does point out the fact that the talisman was successful in the RV when they had to do that emergency operation on Ethan so he thinks he can take it a step further. The more that he is going in his detail for his plan the more it irks Kenny who snaps at him at entertaining the thought of escaping. Kenny himself is slipping into a more nihilistic overdrive (also the name of one of my favorite songs).
Jim makes an interesting observation that the wiring to their appliances aren't factually correct. After stripping he noticed that there's literally no wire but alas, appliances work. Even the prongs have 1.
Jade storms in their house (not sure how he came to that conclusion he was welcome there) and says "OMG you noticed the cord thingy too, huh? Let's work together!"
Back at the basement, Father Kahtri is acting like a creep (not really) to Sarah who obviously is protecting her rather than turning her in to the community and have her suffer Frank's fate in the box. After the chat with Nathan just before he died, he told him all the tea he needed to hear. He still believes that she is a key to helping the people here.
Fatima comes up to Julie and asks her what is up with the flowers. She found them outside so it's like totally okay, right? They go off to go have some more fun but there is a leering shot at the flowers as if this is a bad thing or something? Flowers of death? I guess we'll find out what it signifies later.
Jim heads with Jade to go back the the very car that ran his family off the road (and remember his bestie that was the driver got murdered by Sarah) and they strip the car of any electrical stuffs. I think they're on to something here. They continue to walk in the nearby field. Jade is definitely a tough guy to get along with and is testing Jim's patience so he does have to grease his wheels, so to speak, in order to have any help he can get as he thinks he can create something to get everyone back home.
So it looks like is Ethan is handling his midlife criss not so bad as he tags along with his mom to the diner. After they make sure Sarah is gone (mild PTSD?), they go searching in the back of the diner for clues.
Boyd heads to the clinic to look for Kristie and even walks in the room where Kenny's dad was found. He tells her that he intends to prepare Kenny for the tough road ahead of him but with all due respect Kristie suggests that what he needs right now is a father. This is like a double edged sword for Boyd because I think he was swiftly reminded of his estranged relationship with his son, Ellis (I can only assume why he reacted the way he did).
The gag is taken out of Sarah's mouth as Father Kahtri gives her a huge spiel about the stories in the bible and its significance. He gives her a daily fun fact that the bible is comprised of 73 books. Fantasical stories and dark stories. He seems convinced that the tribulations they are living in is: book 74. A book that is yet to be written. Wow, that's creepy, bro.
Over at the house, Ethan and his mom notice that the light nearby is flickering a bit. Stranger Things crossover?!? Kidding, obviously. And she goes HAM on a wall and encouraging her son to knock more holes in that particular wall too.
A tree is where Jim has to climb in order to hold up a makeshift receiver in an attempt to get a signal. Jade is on the ground trying to get shit to work. When out of nowhere he
GETS SHOT AT!!! He sees all these dead bodies hanging on the branches (along with the same mark he previously saw in the underground shelter) and a disfigured person in uniform now chasing him in pursuit and stabs him in the gut!!!!!!! I know he's an ass but he doesn't deserve to die!
Well sike. Twas a hallucination because Jim catches up to him unscathed and he's in shell shock.
Sarah spills tea of her own that the voices she hears claims to want to help and that "they" have been here a long time waiting for someone to hear them and help them escape. They were just like them. They got in her head and convinced her that if she did what they wanted then everyone gets their happily ever after.
As Father is going on and on about wanting concrete proof about what she claims, then they can take this info to Boyd so they can work together on this but in the middle of this, Sarah starting writhing in pain. The voices now give their next order that they need to her to shown HIM something.
Despite Jade fucking off and away due to his state of spook, Jim stays behind and notices that it kinda worked? He is actually able to get some kind of signal. Only problem is someone with a radio needs to receive and be able to reply back. With the odds against him, he tries repeatedly.
Jade heads to the diner to doodle his little heart out. Kenny's mom is sweet enough to offer tea. She seems to recognize one of his drawings so she leads him through the back and holy hell indeed...
Sarah scribbles on the paper and hands it to him. The voices in her head have watched him on the day he got here and watched him bury the bag and the scribble is proof they know. WTF?!
Now that Kenny's chess pieces are tainted, he is now using that tree I assume to carve new chess pieces when in walks Boyd in his best attempts to be a father figure to him. Like the stereotypical "Let's toss a baseball around, slugger!" He realizes that shit ain't going to work to he drops the act rather quickly and gets blunt with him that he is sick. Parkinson's that he inherited from his father. With his mortality inching closer he is the more motivated to not only finding a way out but to pass the torch to Kenny. He believes in him to take his place once he's gone but not without some help. Kenny reads between the lines and is like..."Uh...I think I wanna play ball, now."
Jim comes home and Tabitha comes to even more conclusions. They have electricity but have no power lines so...what is up with that, man? Aside the point, she gets chills when she finds the same exact bracelet she made for him that she swore she lost earlier in their dating phase.
Father Kahtri goes out in the field and finds the exact bag. The symbol that Sarah drew on the paper is the logo on the chocolate bar in sand bag.
Over at the Colony House a man is seen walking while everybody's sleeping. It's overcrowded so that's why you see a plethora of people sleeping in the hallways and such. He goes in one of windows and shoves over the blinds. To one of the MONSTERS holding the now forbidden flowers saying how it's BEAUTIFUL!
"Now, when can I come in?"
