Freddy's Nightmares S1E4
Episode 4 "Freddy's Trick and Treats"
A woman named Marsha is trying to get some studying done but is thoroughly distracted with loud rock n' roll. She whips out her walkman (man I miss those). In comes her boyfriend in a Jason mask but this fuck ass stumbles over his own foot which totally unphases her. She's just all 😑 while he is stumbling and falling and knocking shit over.
He takes the mask off and tries to chit chat with her in an effort to loosen her up a little bit. She doesn't budge as she says that she has to study for a very important anatomy exam. Nothing like a little bit of peer pressure. Except that it doesn't work with him and she takes her stuff and is en route to head out of the house. Sorry, Mark.
Now we know where the source is coming from because there is a HALLOWEEN PART-AY!!!!!!
She gets stopped by another guy friend who also tries to guilt trip her into staying for the party but she doesn't give a hoot and high tails it out of there. Sorry, Gary.
However, right before she left a dude named Zach is seen talking to one chick nerding out at the possibility of converting synapses of the brain during the dreamstate into video format (Paprika, vibes anyone?)
Marsha reaches the building in which she has a friendly chit chat with the security guard. He is a charming young fellow and is very animated for one too. He is all the talks about Halloween but Marsha ain't having none of that.
"What is this town, haunted or something?"
Heh. The security guard says it actually is by, you guessed it, FREDDY KRUGER! And she this chick has no idea who he is "You didn't watch 1st episode, Marsha?" No, he didn't say that but the security guard gives her a quick rundown of the events in 1st episode anyway. Being the skeptic she is doesn't believe the story nor the hype. Sorry, security guard.
She enters the dissection room to hang with the dead bodies and stuff. She is going a little kooky because she is literally talking to a dead ass corpse. Not even kidding. Uh oh, looks like we got company. Marsha only turned her head for a hot second but when she turned back scratched on the dead man's forehead is a bloody "BOO!" and she yeets out of there.
Marsha comes back with the security guard who doesn't see anything. She swears she saw it. Sure, Marsha.
Security guard being the nice dude he is offers to keep her company at least for a little bit while she slices and dices the corpse. Eh, then again maybe not. He is grossed out and leaves the room.
Marsha continues her - whatever she was doing and while she is washing her hands she gets an unsavory flashback to her child when he grandmother forced her to *gasp* wash her hands!!!! Ohhh no!!! She then gets terrible imagery when she sees her hands all bloody from washing them too long and then a corpse right in front of her sits up in the image her grandmother but the voice of Freddy Kruger taunting her.
Oh hi Mark!
Mark being the nice guy he is checks up on her. Just popping out of nowhere. He apparently knows her backstory and gives her advice to step out of her grandmothers shadow (whatever that means, was she a doctor or something idk?) He pounces on the opportunity to to flirt her up but Marsha is like "Talking about my grandmother is such a libido killer!"
Mark excuses himself because he though he heard something. Hella weird but okay.
Marsha looks in the mirror and sees her with a pumpkinhead mask. Ew creepy and she can't get it off her head! Sike it was all in her head. Good times.
Freddy Kruger's voice taunts her "Marsha, yo hurt my feelings." And she somehow thinks that was Mark. I doubt Mark sounded just like Freddy, Marsha.
She walks into a room and sees someone sitting in a swivel chair with the back turned towards her. POP come out Mark again and said he was basically just trolling her and turned around the chair for it to only be a prop skeleton. UNTIL the skeleton sticks his eyes!!! AAAAHHHHH!!!!
She wakes up and it wasn't real. Good for Marsha.
She walks back out just like in her dream but can't seem to find the security guard. The real Mark is behind her and says "TrIcK oR tReAt". That's a funny story, Mark. She pushes past him and heads outside. Naturally Mark too of course. In fact, he says that Marsha needs a serious dose of FUN! he takes out a pumpkin mask and whisks her away.
They start walking the neighborhood until they reach a familiar looking creepy house. He beckons her over and peer in through the windows like psychos. He tells her to "look and face it"
In the window she sees herself and Mark making out when in comes her grandma who calls her a filthy whore. Instead of defending her honor, he just skedaddles out of there like nothing happened leaving those 2. Her grandma just goes on an abusive tirade. Marsha yells at her and says she wishes she were dead.
Then granny dies.
Heart attack or something and Marsha does a quick 180 and says that she didn't mean it.
Marsha from outside is freaking out and cries. So she runs inside the house to resusitate granny but she rises from the dead and calls her a whore once more so Marsha claws her face. Ewww.
For some reason, she decides to peel off her face but is is revealed to be none other than Freddy.
She runs back outside to Mark who is patiently waiting outside. All he really says is that now that she faced it, she doesn't need him anymore and walks into the darkness leaving Marsha alone yet again. Freddy is just feet behind her laughing maniacally.
Marsha is crying on the ground saying for Mark to not leave her alone. A group of trick or treaters and some people from the party come to her aid. Meanwhile Gary and Zach from earlier in the episode (the one about dream video) wonder what is up with her. Zach then drops the bomb that "Mark" is just a figment of her imagination because she is a headcase. Gary then goes to comfort Marsha.
Marsha, Marsha, Marsha.
Speaking of which, Marsha returns to her dorm room and looks out the window. There's a couple of people outside her window. She does what anyone normal woman would do. Undress, of course. The faces outside her window start to inch closer and closer while she slowly removes her pants and shirt.
However, things take a weird turn when this picture zooms out and this is actually a camera feed that Gary and Zach are watching in a room. This is what it symbolized I guess. If you don't know, now you know, reader.
Zach says he put Marsha under hypnosis and this is what he decides to do with it. Both are still looking at the video feed like pervs. And they totally know that this is naughty as Gary says if anyone sees this tape that random will take the blame for it. He don't care, I guess. Gary actually has a conscience an makes it known how unethical this is as Marsha did NOT consent to this exploitation. That doesn't stop him from continuing to watch her repressed sexuality in the form of a dream.
The feed abruptly stops so the exploitation is over. At least for now.
Zach is frustrated rationalizing she is afraid of her own dreams which is why the signal cut out so he is thinking out loud what he could possibly do to reconnect and strengthen that connection.
Continuing the dream unbeknownst to the dudes is that there is someone trying to get in her door. She is by the window and Freddy's arm plunges through the window and grabs her by the neck. Gary is by her side when she wakes up to comfort his friend. Zach doesn't care as much about her but more about the yummy data for his nerdy science-y research.
The next day Zach approached Marsha and is high off his balls saying that they are SO CLOSE to unraveling this mystery and that it gets worse before it gets better and she has to WANT it in order for there to be a success. He wears her down and agrees.
Later into the night, Gary voices his concerns that it is still unethical to force someone to confront their nightmares if she is not completely ready to do that. Zach gives fuck all and wants to continue the show.
And show it is.
While Marsha goes to sleep, Freddy appears and gives more corny puns. He appears on the monitor and says "More power to ya!" and proceeds to reach through the screen and pull out the wires connected to her head. Chaos ensues. The frayed end of the wire is in a shape of his clawed hand and clasps on her head and tries to fry her brain.
Gary and Zach can't take enough of her screams and run to her side and ask is her grandmother the nightmare this time? Nope, it's FREDDY!
Zach then decides to whisk Marsha away in an effort to jumpstart her imagination. Nice excuse. They are both in the sewers or something. It looks disgusting as all hell. I am pretty sure this is where Freddy Kruger used to chill at before the townsfolk murdered him.
In the deep dark sewer, Marsha loses track of Zach and tries to yell for this fuck ass to come back. With her dimly lit flashlight, she tries to navigate through the WTFs that is this sewer thinking Zach is trolling her when she sees a cut out silhouette of Freddy accompanied with "Boo" written on a cardboard.
She soon hears a little girl's cry for help. Ohh noes! She sees a girl in the cage but in the midst of trying to pry open the metal wires, she sees Freddy right behind her! She screams bloody murder.
Turns out this whole time was a dream.
Zach is miffed that the screen went out again and goes to wake her up. She does and gives him a big hug and swears she cannot go back in her dream and she is not safe. Zach takes one look at her ripped up sleeve and assures her she won't have to go back.
Some time later, Gary joins Zach while some of the fragmented footage is shown to his professor who is impressed that he was able to make it as far as he did to even record anything. Both continuing to nerd out each other.
This fuck ass still wants to push the boundaries yet again which Gary argues with him in front of the professor. Luckily, he has a conscience too and puts Zach in his place as it is now clear that Marsha is not 100% a willing participant and she is more of a psychiatric patient so he tells him to cut his shit.
For some reason, Marsha actually wants to go back and put herself through the torture of her nightmares to finally conclude this episode.
So here she is again resuming her nightmare and goes back to follow where the girl was previously at. She thinks she sees the little girl but it's just a doll. It's a trap as expected and Freddy starts to choke her.
Turns out that it is Zach that is actually the one choking her at her bedside in an effort yo intensify her dreaming stimulus. Which sort of works. Not for his benefit because he is now warped to her dream. So Freddy now slashes Zach and he go plop.
Marsha wakes up for real this time but wakes up to no one there not even in the office. She makes a bee line over there and decides to replay her dream recording. Sure enough, Zach is there showing him go bye bye.
That's the ending, I guess.
