Interview with the Vampire S1E1
Episode 1 "In Throes of Increasing Wonder"
The year 2022 sits Daniel Molloy 49 years after the events of the movie, Interview with the Vampire he receives a package from none other than the vamp himself, Louis de Pointe du Lac who kindly requests for a reunion. They did have a rather abrupt and unreconciled ending last they saw each other and now he wants to set the record straight and give a more articulate story of his origin.
Bam. Mr. Molloy takes the first flight out to Dubai to meet with the immortal. Daniel explains that he doesn't even remember how belligerent he was but regardless, he's here and he's there so let's jump into it.
1910 Louis was living the life of a pimp or as 2022 Louis calls it, he "managed and operated diversified portfolio of enterprises and the product: desire". You see, he wasn't always the chill bro you see today, as back in those days one of the few career fields he would legitimately earn income for people "of his color" his words, not mine! was limited. That was how he came into the world of pimping, he inherited that profession from his late father.
Just another day in the life...he has to settle squabbles and keep people in check for both the prostitutes and the johns. His brother on the other hand, is a man of the lord, not literally speaking but he was on the steps trying to convert Louis' fellow girls to accept Jesus into their heart. He got into a scuffle with his brother in public. Paul oh Paul, the lord told him to tell them to repent. Little did he know that is when Lestat first laid his eyes on Louis and piqued his interest.
The next day Louis and the rest of his family are having a nice meal together where his lil bro tattles on him to mommy. Sure, he may be the rock in his shoe but Louis admits that he loves his brother more than anything in the world.
Louis admits to offset his troubles (and masking his homosexuality), he often visits Miss Lily, a prostitute from a rival brothel. It is more upscale compared to his business. It is apparent that he is looked at differently from the patrons the moment he stepped in. They still treat him civil to his face at least, so there's that.
He motions to meet his lady of the night which he was informed is already on the terrace waiting for him until...Lestat. This is when Louis sees Lestat for the first time and he's chatting it up with Miss Lily wooing her with his french speak. Did you know Louis is multilingual? Well he is and he totally understood what was said. As their first introduction, Lestat gave him a backhanded compliment asking how a man of his color was able to get through the front door to this swanky place. Well, I never!
Already getting off on the wrong foot it only goes downhill from here when Lestat goes to kiss the lady right on the *gasp* LIPS!! All about asserting that dominince and kept caressing her all over to the obviously perturbed Louis but in his words, he didn't feel he could muster the freedom of movement. huh. How odd.
The time has come for Miss Lily to make that $$$ so Lestat and Louis are head to head in a psuedo bidding war. They both go back and forth for a bit until Lestat lays a big stack of bills topped off with his ring. Lestat and Miss Lily leave the table. Feeling immasculated at that sight Louis admits that as much as he wanted to figuratively kill the man, he also wanted to be him. Oui Oui.
After Lestat helps him self to a little snack, he plays poker with fellow upperclass gentleman where Louis joins them much to his chagrin. They do some casual chit chat about random shit from investing this and that. The usual big boy gossip.
Louis then gets an abrupt telepathy from Lestat to tell him how these white peeps look down on him low key racism perhaps? Time stands still while he helps him win a hand at poker. Interesting scene to see it all play out.
He notices just how successful Lestat is and how quickly he has adapted. He wears him down and in retrospect that is what wooed him. This, the blossoming bromance begins. He was quoted as referring to Lestat as "It was a cold winter that year and Lestat was my coal fire." How romantic!
However hindsight is 20/20 and in retrospect he was totes being hunted and eye fucked by Lestat and he was completely unaware whatsoever.
This budding friendship has not gone unnoticed by his family in particular his sister, Grace. She decides to confront him and their friendship and doesn't ask but urges he have dinner with the fam so they can vibe check this white man from town.
"He ain't white, he French." Is this line supposed to be funny?
Anyways, another point of contention is that upon observing their other sibling, Paul is starting to go a little cuckoo and Grace is considering sending him to get "help" but Louis defends his lil bro. Ain't nobody got time for dat! He also surprises her as an early wedding present for her and her soon to be husband tickets to London.
Skipping to dinner in which Lestat gracefully accepts however it is just as quickly thwarted by Paul. He seems to snap at Grace's husband for some unknown reason. Not much is known on the guy but what even?? He recalibrates his focus on Lestat next: "So what are your intentions with my bruddah?"
Lestat being such an elegant quick witted fellow does what he does best and gives him a condescending backhanded compliment but strikes a nerve when Paul asks if he is a man of god. I tell ya guys, this particular scene is just so entrancing. Pun not intended. Lestat answers honestly that he did have some humble beginnings as he claimed he once upon a time wanted to be a priest like Paul but holy fuck he just had such a way with words that he articulated so well of his descent into astray. The once calm and collected Lestat worded so eloquently morphed into nearly chaos when he did his vampirey trick again. His eyes started to glow red and Louis immediately noticed how Paul was freakishly immovable as he had once been which started to frighten yet anger him. Intensity was growing every second so he snapped and told Lestat to cut it out. Not on his dang family, bruh.
After a nice dinner with the fam, Lestat and Louis are seen much later where he acknowledges the family has taken a permanent distaste for his presence now. Oopsie. By the by, even though he didn't say it at the dinner table, Lestat confronts him in private that he was dishonest when he said he left the opera midway...wtf? Lightly defensive, Louis just replies that that he didn't want them to know he was crying like a baby. It's pretty clear and that he has a front and he has to stay strong in front of his family. Such a shame that he feels immasculated at the thought to reveal how moved he was by the opera. Lestat is like a motherfucking Sherlock here just dissecting every detail of Louis but he is on point when he observes how much he sacrifices for his family and the lengths he goes to prevent them perceiving him as weak.
However, he does have a nice surprise for him. A flower.
All three go up in the room. Miss Lily undresses with her titties flopping around. After some sweet talking, he encourages they to do the nasty. With telepathy, Lestat says he's been longing for his companion for oh so long as he undoes his shirt. As they're getting hot and heavy, Lestat joins on in and they have a steamy threesome.
But not without a fight. Yo, this wasn't in the movie!
Using his weird black magic vampire powers he induces Miss Lily to go to sleep just as quickly as it started and then Lestat and Louis then proceed to have their first sexual encounter. During this is when Lestat takes his first bite into Louis.
Louis goes into deep detail on how invigorating it was. However, for that time period, he admittedly had to force himself to repress his homosexuality and try to shut that out of his mind. Obviously he didn't if he's telling it now lol.
He then goes on to attend his sister's wedding. Louis reveals that he is no longer doing business with Lestat due to being taken aback to the intensity of affection he unlocked plus being a homosexual colored is heavily looked down upon according to him. But of course he keeps his answer short and obviously didn't say that part. Paul is hella relieved. He believes he is the devil because of that demonic trick he did with him. They both climb up on the roof of their house and have a charming brotherly bonding moment. Then he just yeets himself off the roof.
That was the last sunrise Louis ever saw.
Paul's bible thumping maw maw drops some bars to blame Louis for his suicide. She also says that Paul is in hell because of him. For shame!
Lestat attempts to crash the funeral but Louis doesn't want to hear it. He is acting like a crazy ex girlfriend now that he doesn't want to take no for an answer. Even his telepathy to beckon him won't work. Dude's grieving. And he grieves alone.
He enters the whorehouse and asks for Miss Lily but it is revealed she died just 2 weeks ago.
Louis then goes to church to confess his sins. He spills all his sins. Like all of them. He lies. He drinks. He lay with man. He wants to die.
Holy fuck. Lestat approaches and slaughters the priest. Louis takes a cross sword and tries to stab him but of course being an immortal he no die. He admits he killed Ms Lily, what of it?
He spots a man an appalled man who tried to run but Lestat using his vampy superpowers to slow down time, close the gates and One Punch Man'd the poor fella. Brutal.
With so many words he reminds him that he can never escape fate. He gives his inner Enrique Iglesias: "I can be your hero baybehh I can take away the painnnnn." In a nutshell that he wants him as an eternal companion. They embrace with a passionate kiss. He finally turns him into a vampire at long last.
Going on to describe the exponential rush of what it felt like to finally go through the transformation. Oh, what a hot steamy scene that was.
