Erased S1E6
Now Episode 6
Little Satoru is up so early that the sun hasn't completely risen yet. He notices that his mother is already up and waiting in the kitchen for him. She briefly inquires to ask what exactly he is doing this early and is it bad? He plays innocence and she leaves it at that and sends him packing with a lunch.
Satoru reaches the bus where Kayo is and without skipping a beat, he hands her his food and takes off for school. As Kayo opens Satoru's would be lunch, it is revealed that his mother was pretty spot on in her own mother instincts. There is a sticky note that said she hopes she doesn't mind eating what her son likes. So sweet!
It is now March 4th and upon roll call, the teacher Yashiro takes note that Kayo is going to be marked absent yet again. At a later time, Satoru goes up to him in private and claims to have knocked to no answer. Mr. Yashiro then agrees to call child services again but this time he will personally go with them when they knock on the door.
Skipping ahead of the day's events lead to that point, actually. Mr. Yashiro and the social workers are once again met with silence. They go in the back where the sliding door was left unlocked. He takes one look inside and it's dirty as fuck. However, no sign of Kayo nor her mother. Not much they can do unfortunately so yet again, they have no other choice but to leave. It was apparent the mother fled due to the heater being on still.
Peeking in the background obscured from view is of course Satoru. After seeing them leave, he heads straight to the the bus where Kayo is playing cards with Kenya and Himiro.
Kayo then whips out the birthday present that she apologized for being late on. Knitted mittens! It triggered a bittersweet memory for him. In the altered timeline, Satoru recalled Kayo's mother throwing out her clothes in a dumpster in a white bag and seeing those exact ones in there. He holds it close to his heart and he sheds happy tears over them. Everyone else not knowing the history are a little taken aback of how emotional he takes it. He quickly tries to play it off and thanks Kayo for the sweet gift.
Cute moment gets interrupted when Kayo confesses that someone was on the bus last night to presumably stash a few things and seemed a bit angry about something before storming off. The kids head to the front of the bus and see the secret murder bag. The contents contained rope, duct tape, boots and a spray bottle.
Sotoru's inner alarm is going haywire. He originally thought future dead Kayo would be placed in an industrial freezer spraying with chemicals to keep her body frozen but now he's not so sure...it is also currently winter at this point too. He tells everyone that they need a new plan and there is no way they can stay on this bus anymore.
While everyone is getting to work and deconstructing the place, he opens a box and sees...coal?? He doesn't have much time to further investigate since he has to get back to helping his friends.
Once gathering all the packed up stuff, he gets busted by this mother.
She looks mad as fuck but she was just pulling their leg and invites them all in and feeds their fat faces.
She phones Mr. Yashiro the news that the missing girl is not missing and he is elated to hear that.
Kayo has a flashback and recalls how neglectful her mom was. She was too busy watching tv that she had to feed herself. After eating dinner, Kayo goes up to the mother in private to personally thank her for the food. After getting flashes of her abusive mother dunking her head in water, she starts breaking down crying. She comforts her and tells her everything is going to be okay. Cue sad music here.
The next day, Kayo rings the door to her house. The mother comes out yelling and almost striking her until Satoru and his mom intercepts.
Both mothers get into a big argument in which Kayo's mother attacks with a shovel. By the grace of...eh goodness, Mr. Yashiro and and the social workers pop out of nowhere. They take Kayo with the social workers and the teacher gives big thanks to Satoru before taking off.
Satoru looks in sadness as he realizes he doesn't know when he'll see her again. She looks out the car window to him as they drive away. He puts on his birthday gloves and tries to chase after the car as she waves goodbye. Goodbye Kayo.
Feeling accomplishment for saving her life, he smiles at a job well done. Kayo gets to live.
It is now grown up Satoru who looks at the sidewalk. He sees Airi walking by but doesn't seem to acknowledge him. Well shit, better turn around and reach out to her then.
SIKE
It was a dream. But wait oh holy fuck, Satoru is still in his little kid body again. Upon waking up realizing he didn't get restored to his timeline he automatically assumes that something is wrong. Saving Kayo from her mother wasn't enough. He now thinks that he has to take it a step even further and prevent all the other murders from ever happening!!
He is at school now slumped over in his desk. Mr. Yashiro walks in the classroom and yeah decides to drive the young tike home. He says some comforting lines like how things cannot be gained by inaction while referring to how he saved Kayo. He further asks if she was at his house the whole time she was marked absent.
Satoru looks at the glove compartment and sees something sticking out. Mr. Yashiro snaps and says not to look in there EVER! Dead ass Mr.Yashiro says:
Then he proceeds to reach and help himself to the mountain of lollipops and injests one. Oh yes, the mortal sin of sugar. He appoints Satoru as his accomplice now. Nice.
Back at school, Kenya asks to speak with him in private. He is saying that he feels that there is more that he isn't telling him. Afterall, he did follow him on the day he threw that rock at Yuuki's window. Satoru then realized that it was his testimony that was a stepping stone in getting Yuuki wrongly convicted of murder. Kenya quickly pieces together that he did so to give him an alibi. Satoru's inner monologue compliments his critical thinking skills and says as an 11 year old is smarter than his 29 year old self.
It is revealed that Kenya's dad is a lawyer so that totally influenced him in thinking outside the box. In fact, he recalled a case his dad that had him convinced of his innocence. It was a father that got arrested for the murder of his 10 year old daughter. Cause of death was from fumes from a coal stove.
COAL?! As in the coal Satoru came across on the bus?!?!?!?
