Diablero S1E7
Now: Episode 7 "Four Tombs / Cuatro Tumbas"
Without skipping a beat, Mama Chebala is kicking off the ritual without a hitch. With all 4 children tied up and encased in a sack, she starts painting their faces kind of like in Indian war paint or something. As she is muttering incantations, the children's eyes go white and their bodies catatonic. She covers their eyes and mouths with cloth.
Elvis, Keta, Ramiro and Nancy briefly meet in Chebala's kitchen I think? Then, they feel a tremor. In sadness, Elvis says that signifies that the ritual has already started and the first child has died. Is it too late?
Mini flashback when they found Wences from the ending of the previous episode. Ramiro is asking the chained up man where is his daughter. It only enrages him when Wences replies he does not know. Ramiro resorts to smacking him across the face in an effort to revitalize his memory but it's obviously fruitless. Nancy pipes in to remind him that to remember that they are still bound pendejo!!!!
Elvis goes after Ramiro which leaves just Nancy alone with Wences. She appeals to him that they need to lose this connection. She pulls out a jar and says that the demon appraiser instructed her in order to lose the bound with one another, they both need to get stung by this beetle. Mmkay. She goes first and then places it on Wences hand. Simple as that!
Ramiro Ventura is on the prowl and says despite the ritual already starting they can't just do nothing! TO THE CEMETERY!! Wait but holy fuck they all spot El Indio outside.
Keta rushes to his aid who is drunkardly stumbling to her confuzzlement, he is actually bewitched because all the words he can get out of his mouth is of a young teething toddler so he's saying all kinds of childish things. Pretty humourous, actually. Keta says she will take him and help him recover.
Elvis returns to what is left of the group and says that this is where he will also depart from them. He gives Nancy a hug goodbye and a pat on Ventura's shoulder and bids adios.
Nancy was barely into ear shot when she overhears him on the phone now asking for his help to find Mariana. This angers her as she says she nearly died multiple times and NOW he is going to Morelo?!?!? PORQUE!!!!!!!! She takes off on her own as well to head to the church and get her shit.
Keta reaches Isaac's house where he is still acting like a belligerent child. This is like sooooo funny! For being such a serious scary show I recommend you watch this show specifically for this scene because I LMFAO'd for like a good 10 minutes. Still obviously bewitched, he kept wanting to touch and play with everything colorful and the fact that a child's voice was coming out of this hardened criminal was just way too fucking funny!
Enough of the comic relief, Elvis reaches his dad's home. Benito. He knew he was coming so what a shocker. And he's not here to talk about jolly old happy old school memories though.
Mama Chebala is seen continuing the ritual with the 2nd child who is submerged in a barrel. It is assumed that child has died as she is next seen focusing on the 3rd bound child.
Benito asks him why does he think the ritual needs 4 children? WELL it's because the demon is oh so powerful that it requires 4 vessels. A motherfucking Type-7 demon!!! WHAT! They hear the next tremble.
It appears that the bewitching cast on Isaac is some kind of reversion because now all that is coming out of his mouth is a baby's cry. So uh I think he can actually die from this by the end of the night. Keta on is searching frantically for a spell to rejuvenate his memory as he most definitely saw something important that he was not meant to see and Mama Chebala went at great lengths to prevent him from reporting. She thinks she's figured it out so she sends one of his daughters to get the materials for said incantation.
Ramiro still at the compound, Morelo has brought some company with him. Like the Men in Black but for churchy peoples. They make a beeline for Wences fetch him like some kind of evil repo men. Poor Wences is wailing as they are hauling him off. Ramiro questions why him tho? Morelo says to fuggetaboutit.
Benito says since he no longer has the strength which is why Elvis has to be the one to stop the ritual. Elvis feels so powerless and overwhelmed and confesses that he was right that he will never be a worthy diablero. Benito tells him to stop being so sensitive and save this sorry ass world already.
Ramiro leads Morelo and the rest of his goons to the bunker thingy where the kids were previously held. He keeps referring to Keta as Enriqueta which is her full name as you know (so wtf is Ketamina, then?). He just keeps asking where everyone else is but Ramiro is like WTF why do you wanna know? They know all too well about Nancy's powers and are interested in her.
Too bad Nancy doesn't share that same sentiment for him anymore.
Keta starts reciting incantations as now Isaac's baby cries sounds more and more like a newborn so time is really of the essence.
A third tremor.
Hmm well if you haven't suspected it at this point, Morelo is not a good guy. NOOOOOOOO? Yes. Morelo informs him that Ramiro almost fucked it up almost stopping the ritual but luckily, in his own words, it's too late to stop it. They want this fucking ritual to happen!!!!!! The fuck is this shit, right?!
This whole time Ramiro is just shocked Pikachu face the whole time. Morelo just tells him to rest and fuggetaboutit.
For some reason, Mama Chebala saves Mariana for last. Why? IDK since she was the fiesty one to begin with. She was able to manage to buy some time and kick over a cup that was placed down. Not a word was spoken but she did give Mariana the stink eye. As a mexican myself, I know that look all too well. Better off getting yelled at than be given that death stare. She just walks off with her cup.
Ramiro left in a state of disbelief has a brief flashback that even I overlooked that originally thought it was just a passing comment but was in fact not. You see, in the original episode with Ramiro's first appearance I believe when he was talking to one of the church goes after hours. A stone figurine that was on the floor that a man mentioned "Only god knows what's buried under the city" as he handed it to the priest. Thanks to that man Ramiro knows exactly where to look.
Holy fuck. Just when Nancy made it to the church she bumps into Mama Chebala who claims she is the cleaning lady needing to refill some holy water. Since she was once connected to Wences and saw through his eyes, she knows exactly who she is and calls bullshit on her. She rushes down the stairs with Nancy in hot pursuit.
Elvis gets a text from Ramiro so off he goes to meet up with him.
Mama Chebala sneaks up behind Nancy and shanks her and flees. Yo but wait Nancy is starting to count down. You know what that means!
So all the incantations Keta tries to do is fruitless to bring Isaac back and now he's sucking his thumb perhaps mimicking being in the womb?? Keta now thinks that Isaac needs to have a Grinch moment where they have to appeal to his heart in order to break the bewitching. She thinks the key to that is to sing a song. He named at least one of his daughters after a favorite vocalist of his. Pauline and Thalia are like aw HELL naw we aint singing that!
Mama Chebala comes back to the ritual and how that she has the holy water she can finally resume the ritual. Mariana can only do so much but just remember that she is up against a very powerful diablera so she is ultimately powerless against her witchery. Her eyes starts to turn white and obeys the commands and injests whatever the thing she was supposed to consume and slowly lurches back on the ground.
The fourth tremor.
Turns out Benito is hella fire when it comes to motivating Elvis so off he goes to meet up with Ramiro at the stairs of the church. He feared the worst for his daughter but Elvis tells him not to worry.
Pauline and Thalia start off reluctant but eventually get into the song and sing happily to their dad hoping it will resurrect daddy dearest.
At the bottom of the stairs Elvis and Ramiro find Nancy slumped on the ground. She pounces up and currently under demon possession. Elvis recites an incantation to exorcise the demon while Ramiro grabs a jar for the demon to escape to. Success! When she is back to normal she tells them that she had to summon a demon in order to like...not die since she got stabbed and all. Whatever works amirite?
While they are singing, Keta decides to kiss Isaac like a reverse sleeping beauty! Awwww! That is until he gives tongue. Ya nasty! But she got trolled, the incantation thing actually worked on him since before they even sang, he just wanted to rest. Lolz.
Nancy, Ramiro and Elvis are now underground, thanks to Ramiro probably. Going spelunking or some shit.
Looks like the ritual is coming to a close. After she is aware of their presence, Mama Chebala unveiled yet another incantation to cast further disharmony within the group. I say that because Ramiro picks a fight with Elvis abruptly saying he never cared about finding Mariana and only cared about finding Mayaken which triggers him. Nancy tries to calm them to say they are bewitched but Ramiro is like "SILENCE YE WENCH! Ya burnt my hand 2 episodes ago!" Elvis quickly figured out the cause of this sudden animosity so he rummages through his bag and shoves something in Ramiro's cake hole which restores them to normality. That's what she does, man! Brings out everyone's resentments to detract from their main objective. That's it and that's all. Nancy was not affected because she admits she has no resentments. What a bad ass.
Getting back on track here Nancy can smell a demon in their midst, a Type 2 demon the same one who has possessed Wences so now that one is floating around there somewhere. Great.
All three end up finding the ritual spot. 4 vases where all 4 children are now encased. Ramiro drops his shit and looks for Mariana. Nancy begs him to stop because she knows Mama Chebala is not too far off.
Elvis hands Ramiro silver signifying that he has to inject her. He also reminds him that come sunrise, that will NOT be Mariana. they have no choice.
Right in the middle of the explanation, Mama Chebala with the type 2 demon now possessing her launches herself from the ceiling to attack the diablero. All are critically injured including Nancy who tries to reach for the holy water but demon Chebala starts choking her out. All three attempt to excorcise her but demon Chebala is too powerful! Dat sucks.
Sun is starting to rise so the choking up gets interrupted when the kids gods starts hatching out of the vases and start walking towards her like demon children...actually yeah. That's cray cray.
The season 1 finale is next! I'll try my best to scoot it up to next week or something.
