Hellbound S1E5

Now: Episode 5

Scooting back a few seconds before the end of episode 4, which is just after there is a notice to vacate the premises, there are 2 men who come up to Yuji. They're both detectives on the case, I presume. Snapping that pic of the loan shark card, he is referred to as Deacon Yuji. One detective doesn't say a word but the taller one relays the information that they located Junwon's car and know all about his debt. They deduced that Junwon just hopped on one of the boats to flee the loan sharks. Yuji doesn't say much. Another blue jacket wearing associate comes up to him and says they located "him" as he got a decree at the store currently hiding in Cheonan. They both take off to head on over. Leaving the scene and not acknowledging the detectives. Prick.

Panning over to the office is Youngjae all alone with barely any lights on even over his cubicle. He's dwelling on the words that his wife, Sohyun's discontent oven their newborn's decree and also echoing the last words from Junwon. I honestly didn't notice it the first time but from all the babble, Junwon was saying that SUDO will make it look like he vanished without a trace. Ho-ly fuck.

Youngjae decides to internet search what "sodo" means and ooohh wee turns out that it was a clue hiding in plain sight. Sodo means: a sacred site where rituals were held there and any fugitives who fled there would be immune to any prosecution.

Lights flick back on.

It's his boss where he informs him on the recent information on Junwon. This is when Youngjae has a lightbulb over his head and without saying anything to his boss, he just takes off like a bat out of hell.

Yuji is one of the many people to question a man named Kim Yeongseok who is now of the recent folk with a new decree. The New Truth people are already there with a camera all up in his grill and are urging him to give the time of his demonstration. He babbles a bit but ultimately says that his demonstration is today. Despite the ample time he was given, he only disclosed the time that day and they only have a few hours left.

It's really creepy how everyone is treating this. There's no sympathy at all for the distressed Kim Yeoungseok, all they care about is from a business standpoint. One monkey suit wearing douche is saying it is not in their budget to create another sacred site. The others just say to broadcast his demonstration at the headquarters.

Only listening in on the conversation, Yuji takes the liberty of looking around the guy's apartment and comes across a Sodo laundry service business card and inquires Kim on where he got that from...the plot thickens!

Youngjae rushes to the editing room where Misuk is chilling at takes a look at the footage from the promotional material from the previous episode. Yup, he confirms that the man who told him to stay away is that exact panelist. He doesn't tell Misuk that of course. He just asks for contact information on him which she conveniently has. He snaps a pic and makes a mad dash out of there. Again.

As he is running, it brings a passing woman on alert. She immediately gets on her phone to call someone. Spooky.

Taking immediate action and after hella years later about the yet to be publicly known demonstration of the original Chairman Jung, the New Truth now has morbid amounts of money at this point. There is a luxurious building and even a studio in which Kim Yeongseok is being broadcasted. Chairman Jeonchil has set him in front of a audience of these mysterious white masked people ready for the demonstration.

Holy mother of Mary.

I don't like this new Chairman, man! He's got this guy half stripped humiliating the poor guy. He's shaming him for his sins in gambling. Heyyy, Yuji is in attendance and right after him is Kim Yeongseok's family to witness. As the timer ticks down, Chairman steps aside to await for the coming of the beings.

As the demonstration is in motion the supernatural shadowy beings ripping Kim Yeoungseok apart, Jeonchil watches in disturbing glee, even to ask what the live ratings are. Yuji approaches chairman to request a committee meeting to presumably bring up a discovery of his own.

When the demonstration is finished, Jeonchil closes out with a corny message all evil televangelist style how now he is in hell forever for his sins. All theatrical and shit. Lolz.

Hankuk University is where Youngjae arrives to look for Gong Hyeongjun at his office. Huh, well he is a sociology professor, eh? Interesting. Before he can do as much as knock, a group of people rushes behind him and pushes him in the door.

The committee meeting is taking place. Jeongchil and all the other blue jacket wearing mofos are sitting around the perverbial campfire to watch the footage of Yuji interrogating Kim Yeongseok about Sudo. The man explains that this is an organization that can make those condemned to disappear without a trace and most importantly, without the New Truth's knowledge about it whatsoever. Sudo approached him for their services but he said he was going to think about it and in randomly pops the aforementioned business card in his room. The faces on all these guys (and gals): PRICELESS.

Back at the University, Hyeongjun is explaining to Youngjae that yes, they are hiding those who have received the decree from the New Truth for the victims' own protection.  Original Chairman Jung has forever claimed it was god who was behind who got the decree and is still the mainstream belief but this group has no evidence proving otherwise. So, yeah. Hyeongjun goes on to explain that this group is vast and they have members infiltrated across all career fields, even his own (lady on phone, for example!). This group believes that despite getting a decree for being bound for hell, everyone deserves the right to die in private and not as a spectacle for the whole world to see.

It's crazy too because in the words of Youngjae, like half the world are followers of the New Truth. After slight hesitation, he pulls out his phone and shows his wife's video of his newborn's decree.

Continuing with the committee meeting the recently deceased finally drops the bomb that the one who was to be contacted was. Drum roll please. MIN!!!! The lawyer lady!!!!! I fucking knew that was her. Also should have been a big giveaway the fact that her firm was called Sodo. Well, I figured it out anyway regardless of that connection. Fucking cool. It all makes sense now. Jeongchil is big mad now at this grand reveal. He commands Yuji to muster up all his energy to find these people because they are smart as fuck. He then does his weird psycho ritual to bestow authority to Yuji. Um ok?

Yuji leaves the room and tells Deacon Saechong in private to get in contact with The Arrowhead. Yes, them. The vigilante group. At first the dude is like wUt??? Yuji tells him to cut the shit, he knows he has contacts with him so just...call them bro. What do ya know? He's right. Deacon whips out his phone and proceeds to dial them up.

Youngjae is whisked away as there is someone who is ready to meet with him. Off he goes to be escorted. En route, he is like:

"Sooo this decree thing isn't about god condemning sinners, eh?"

Nope, they do not believe this is divine intervention at all. Hyeongjun explains that religion is the root of all evil. Nah, kidding he didn't say that but he did say that there is no proof and it sucks that the New Truth has so much of the world convinced that it's an act of god.

One of the members in attendance from Sodo, Geunbae, goes on home and holy shit he comes home to members of the Arrowhead that bound and tied his wife. Other Arrowheads come out from a hidden room and knock him unconscious. Yuji and Saechong are in an idling car listening in. I suppose the purpose was to interrogate him. Despite Hyeongjun saying they got members everywhere. Well so does The Arrowhead. One of the members works in the same field as Junwon and caught wind of the loan shark debacle and came to the conclusion that it was a believeable coverup for his disappearance after the demonstration. Also new info, Junwon's mother was a previous recipient of the decree. Interesting.

Youngjae finally has a sit down with Min. She explains to him that the New Truth has nearly the whole world's population by their balls. Using fear to control the world that they need sinners to convey that message and keep them all in check, like lambs to the slaughter. However, if there is a decree that doesn't fit with their agenda, they will bury it. Giving Jung as an example. Youngjae was led to believe that he just left the country but nah, bro.

This group wants to expose their teachings. After having the whole world believing that is is some divine intervention to make everyone behave, Min poses the daunting request that they SHOULD broadcast Youngjae's newborn demonstration to the world to show that a newborn, who doesn't even know the concept of original sin, is being condemned.

Youngjae doesn't take this well at all. He loses his shit and says they are no better than the New Truth. OMG that was such a sad scene...

Hyeongjun walks Youngjae downstairs and reveals to him that his daughter received a decree. The time usually various days, Jung's was 20 motherfucking years. His daughter? 10 seconds. He had to watch his young daughter die and he still grieves her death everyday. He urges him to please think about what was said.

Youngjae arrives home to his baby crying. Sohyun is too stricken to do anything about it. She reveals a sad memory about how her mom left when she was 5. Her mother cheated then divorced and never looked back. After her dad passed away, she expected her mom to express remorse for her actions but nope. All she cared was about money. She swore she would never be like her mother and be a great mom to Toughie. So why out of everybody in the whole world would her newborn receive a decree? So many sad scenes in this episode!

This is when he reveals about where he was earlier and even tells their plans. Wow.

While on his drive, Hyeongjun is attacked by The Arrowhead!!!! Multicar crash. They drag him out and drug him unconscious. When he comes to, he is in a warehouse where his battered follower is also there still bound and gagged and bloodied.

One of the Arrowheads kindly requests that all they need from him is his GPS info from his car. Now that they already have that they take his body strapped and place it in a furnace and burn him alive!!! He screams in agony. That is so like....what the fuck did I just see!!!??? My first time watching this scene I just kept saying NOOOOO! Nooo! No!

Over at Min's she looks outside her door and sees The Arrowhead rapidly approaching her door so she yeets the fuck out of there. There's like so fucking many of them!! She's totally the bad ass because she kicks the shit out of everyone. Even Yuji and Saechong when they almost got her. She hightails it out of there before more Arrowheads catch up to her.

The next morning a security officer is the first of many to catch the most heinous sight ever. The corpses of Hyeongjun and Geunbae along with The Arrowhead symbol.

Youngjae walks into work and this is when he finds out about their fates as it is on the news and a huge crowd amongst them. Shocked he reaches for his phone and comes across a statement from the Arrowhead who has taken responsibility for the killings. They intend to punish all who are affiliated with Sodo and deny the wills of god through the decrees. They even name drop Min along with a picture of her and says she is alive and well and is their #1 most wanted.

This gets interrupted when he receives a phone call from Min who urges him to stay with his wife since time is running out.

The thing about that, though.

Sohyun is seen stepping out of the car and headed towards the New Truth headquarters. Well, fuck.

I am so sad to say that the next episode will be the season 1 finale!! Stay tuned bros!
