Erased S1E5
Now: Episode 5
Dude is in his house looking at a newspaper detailing Satoru's mother slaying until he gets a call on his cellphone. He picks up.
He's hesitant to take that stroll in the park but he does and comes face to face with grown up Satoru. He introduces himself as Sawada that used to work with his late mother, Sachiko. After his initial hesitation he assures him that he hasn't informed the police as he says that there is no way a wonderful woman like that could raise a murderer.
Well guess what? Airi didn't die. She woke up in a hospital. Mmkay. She peeks out the door to overhear detectives say they found her fingerprints on the weapon used to kill her. They come to their own wacky conclusion that Satoru put her up to it and when she was of no more use to him that he was the one who pushed her off the balconey. Wow well they are wrong as fuck.
Satoru goes with Sawada to his place where it is apparent he has his own investigation. He sees the billboard with all the victim's pictures on the billboard. Even Kayo. Sawada reveals to him that his mother actually called him up wanting to talk about this exact murders figuring that she might know who the actual killer was.
Sawada hands him a folder with all the files of the reports he did during that time. He opens it up and sees all the newspaper clippings and stuff detailing the events surrounding all of their disappearances along with the conviction of Jun, a food service worker. Reports say that he took Kayo's body, placed her in the freezer and sprayed her with chemicals to make her body speed up the freezing process. Satoru refused to believe he would ever do such a thing.
Sachiko, his mother, had an inkling of her own but didn't want to distress her son so she tried to convince him
Meanwhile, Airi sneaks out of the hospital room to call Satoru from a payphone and requests to meet him so she can talk about the killer. Unfortunately someone already caught wind of her in the shadows.
They both meet under the tunnel. She reveals to him that he saw the killers face up close and even says that she has seen his face at their work before. Poor dude thinks he's the grim reaper that wreaks havoc wherever he goes and spreads misery. Their meeting is cut short when he is cornered by the police who swiftly arrest him.
There's already a huge crowd leering at them but as Satoru gets a closer look, he sees a familiar face in the back of the crowd and he goes apeshit and runs....
HOLY FUCK he gets into another revival where he is back in his 5th grade self slumping over his desk in class. He looks over to see Kayo. The date? February 29th, 1988.
His friend, Kenya, comes up to him and asks for the book back that he lent him. Poe's "The Man Who Switched Places". He says nah he hasn't finished it yet. He asks to speak with him outside.
He now asks who TF he is because he was testing him and there was in fact no book he lent him. He noticed that he was acting a little wonky since the day he was focusing his attention a little too much on Kayo Hinazuki. Shit, he thinks to himself. He was too busy trying to save her life, it didn't occur to him that people may question his intentions here.
Satoru decides to spill the beans to Kenya since he seems like good people. Yeah the whole enchilada how Kayo is going to die and he wants to prevent all those killings that hasn't happened yet. Surprisingly, he's in!
Things still happen in the timeline like the shared birthday party. He realizes that he has to make a different action this time to prevent the same cycle repeating itself. He quietly excuses himself and sneaks over to Shiratori Foods which is where Jun works and throws a baseball through the window. With him calling the police over the vandalism will give him an alibi.
Next, he picks up a disposable camera and with the knowledge of his adult self knowing how to make a taser from a disposable camera, he pursues Kayo's mother while she's out and about. He sneaks up behind her but Kenya pops out of nowhere and holds him back saying he's getting a little too ahead of himself and he needs help then just ask.
"HAAAAAALP."
They go back to the party. Mother bids everyone goodbye. Satoru decides to walk Kayo home. Except he doesn't. He leads her to a reworked bus made into a home. With Kenya's help, they constructed a safe haven for her to sleep for the next. She thanks them and they take off willing to check on her tomorrow.
Morning rises and upon roll call Kayo is not there. Uh oh. Mr Yashiro, upon noticing her absence decides to pick up the phone and call child services.
Satoru, Kenya persuaded Himiro to tag along with them to play cards with Kayo on the bus. Yup, Himiro was one of the kids that was to be murdered so they did this for his safety. Worrying about being caught, Kayo tells them not to worry that she will take responsibility and say it was her idea. And they continue playing.
Later that night though, a man in rubber boots is seen walking up to the bus and boarding. Kayo tries to hide in the corner and she sees him drop a bag and trash up the place...uh bus and then heads back out. She peers out of the window and catches a glimpse of him walking away.
