Episode 4
A promotional piece is being viewed by the representatives for The New Truth and people from the production company. Parts of the promo showcases how current life is like after the demise of Chairman Jung and current Jeongchil being the next appointed leader. This current time frame has been 4 years since the live taping of Park Jungja's demonstration. There has also been statues erected in the likeness of these supernatural beings along with previous demonstration locations being reserved as part of a showcase museum-like that has since been open to the public. It has been now referred to as a sacred location as an everlasting reminder of who do not repent their sins prior to their decree. It is claimed that god has revealed his plan through different forms on divine intervention and this one is totes one of them. In the events after, the "sinners" as Jeongchil refers them as, have killed them selves in vain in order to prevent the fulfillment of the decree bestowned upon them. Thinking this was their easy way out was all for nothing as they will be resurrected when their time comes and will still face the wrath of these beings.
Another portion shows an interview shows a young girl known as Sinner #27 Song Hyeonseop Interview with Family shows her sobbing as she reveals the sins of his father and that he deserves to go to hell.
Jeongchil makes a grand walk in at this next section of the promo video saying that this is a movement that does not condone hiding sins. So, like, don't hide, bro. He's saying this as he walks through the preserved ruins of Park's demonstration (hers is labeled as #1 along with her remains still intact and encased in a see through box for future onlookers. Ermahgerd this turns out to be an ad for their app. I am dying.
The video concludes and everyone else is sitting at the conference table ready to discuss comments and critiques. Despite being a co-producer, Bae Youngjae voices his distaste for the movement and what they stand for after one of the reps for The New Truth doesn't like them showing the closeup of Park's face during her demonstration, thus it might make viewers have sympathy for her when it in fact is not their goal here.
"Making the world a better place through intimidation and condemnation?" he asks? What poppycock! He doesn't believe that this has any effect on the crime rates simply over the fact that people are too scared to come forward when it is obviously the work of The Arrowhead. His co-producer snaps as he obviously doesn't share his view. Things are getting heated so the meeting has to be cut short and they will have to recut the promotional piece anyway.
Meeting wraps up and New Truth peeps skirt off back in their hole and Youngjae has a chat with his wife as she just had a baybeh!!
He goes to up to the editing room where his colleague is at. On screen is a panelist with some interesting ominous words he describes as this phenomenon is at due to humanity's failure to keep up with the evolving times.
Youngjae goes searching for his other colleague, Junwon, but sees a card at his desk marked as "Yangpyeong fishing spot" but Junwon himself comes storming back and snatches the card out of his hand. Youngjae was looking for him to help with the script but he's being a fuck ass and refuses and just walks off leaving him to fend for himself.
Over at the hospital his wife sneaks her phone in to take a video of her newborn dubbed Toughie but in the midst of this she sees this shit to her shock and horror.
WTF how the hell is a newborn already getting decrees to hell?!?!?!?
He's trying to get a hold of his wife but to no avail as it went to voicemail. Junwon's wife actually is the one to get a hold of Youngjae as she can't reach her own husband. This is when this motherfucker got caught in a lie as he originally told him that he has somewhere to be with his wife yet here she is not knowing where this cat is at. Another peculiar thing she mentions is that loan sharks came after her because he gambled too much and now owes mucho moolah. So that sucks. Youngjae promises to look into it and ends the call.
He does remember about the card he picked up earlier and indeed it was about a loan on the front of the card. Things are starting to click for him and he starts searching for that "fishing spot".
Poor Sohyun is frantic after witnessing her baby's decree. She downloads the New Truth app and despite her search, she doesn't actually see any archives of past sinner's demonstrations on any babies.
Okay so back to Youngjae's quest for the "fishing spot" it takes him into some wack ass side in the outskirts of the city when he gets accosted by members of The Arrowhead. They ask him 20 questions on what is a city boy like himself traveling in the butt fuck lands of this...land. Surprisingly, they let him go as they don't deem as a threat.
When he gets to the "fishing spot" he spots Junwon's car. He goes on foot ends up finding him sobbing by the peer. Spooked, he jumps in the water.
Junwon tearfully explains that he in fact received a decree and implores him to not tell his wife. He doesn't want that family to be known as being associated with a sinner. Stomping off in the distance. Oh shit the supernatural beings are here!!! Youngjae can do nothing but look in horror of his dear colleague getting ripped to shreds and being sentenced to hell.
Not even as much as a hot second goes by before a multitude of vehicles storm the area to clean up the crime scene. They drag Youngjae away and is being confronted by a very familiar face along with a promise to not pursue any further investigation in what he saw tonight or he will face very dire consequences. Who is this man you ask? He was the panelist as seen on TV in the editing room earlier in this episode.
Immediately following this line is where a woman is seen peering at them as Youngjae is injected with a substance that renders him unconscious.
One of the masked people asks him (the panelist dude) why he showed his face to Youngjae but with conviction he says that Youngjae CAN be trusted. The woman is I THINK the lawyer lady, Min?? I think. She says they will make sure to keep an eye on Youngjae so he won't get into bullshit with them.
Youngjae wakes up in his car the following morning and rushes to the hospital to see his wife but she's still crashed out with ear buds listening to something. After she wakes up, She decides to show him the video she recorded of the dreaded decree her newborn received. She's in such a mess how this could happen that she gave birth to a sinner, she keeps saying.
Over in the woods is where the remains of Junwon is found along with one of members of the New Truth from the beginning of the episode is snaps some pics from his phone of the crime scene. He asks a detective if this place can be reached by car or any other places around here. Nope. Theorizing that one who has received a decree would want to hide out there is definitely a possibility since shame is a thing, ya know. The search comes to an immediate halt and all the police and detectives are forced to vacate since they can't find further evidence.. Just when he is about to leave, he sees the SODO quick loan business card so he snaps a pic of it.
