Episode 5 The "Conclave / El Conclave"
A flashback where mini Elvis and mini Keta are a witness to papa Benito to teach Elvis to do voodoo to his dad. He gets on his ass because the incantation doesn't work. Like at all. He's extremely disappointed and tells him to get his ass in check if he ever wants to be a diablero. He reminds him of a demon's claw around his neck. Not just any demon but a "Demonic Principality" in which his great grandfather killed and passed it down from generation to generation. Elvis ain't quite ready for that demonic jelly. Keta offers help but Elvis is sexist and says that woman can NOT be diableras. WTF. 🎵Las Notas Altas "Malaguena"🎵
In present time now where grown up Elvis is talking to Keta reeling from the outcome of the summoning incanation in which Nancy swore she saw a diablera. Keta implores him to have a chat with Benito but Elvis is not thrilled at the possibility of doing so.
Meanwhile Father that spilled the beans after Father Ramiro spiked his drink with truth telling serum back in episode 3, is seen webchatting with an eye ball. Ha not really but it looks like some dark void projected on a computer screen. Father is talking about the aforementioned events. A little creepy here because you hear no words from the other side of the conversation. Almost like there is some telepathy at play. Enriqueta Infante (Keta) is mentioned that he will get to the bottom of it.
Little Mariana continues running for her life in this lifeless decrepid town until she reaches a shady ass bar with nothing but sketchy folks around here. She reaches the bartender and asks for help. To her luck she runs into REAL police officers. Glad they were real. Upon first watch I was scared as fuck they were planning on kidnapping the poor child.
Elvis decides to go to Don Benito and sticks Father Ramiro with watching over an exhausted Nancy
Mama Chebala is dragging the lifeless Margarita but Wences comes up to her and says can't find Mariana. She's pissed and says she's an irreplaceable component for a new sun. She threatens to bottle for possession again. Dafuq. Literally right when they are chatting, the police arrive at the gates. She kills them.

Apparently Mariana told them the entire story of who Chebala is a witch that kidnapped her and witnessed her kill Margarita. Chebala puts on her sweet old woman facade and makes up this bullshit story that poor Mariana is an abandoned child and these stories is due to her trauma. That crazy little tike! All she needs is bunches of hugs. The police actually buy her story even after scoping out the place. Mariana pleads with him to not go but at this point the poor little girl's credibility is officially donesky.
"Yeah yeah yeah just get over there ya brat." They didn't actually say that.
Keta gets super sneaky and meets up with El Indio. He hates being called that actually so he is known to everyone else as Isaac. They are at the grave of Mayaken. Indio explains that he just wanted her to have closure for the reason there is a gravestone at all. She asks him a favor to look into the demon that Nancy says caught the scent of the demon responsible and it originated from HIS stomping grounds. He obliges out of his everlasting love for her. Wait wut? The bomb gets dropped that Elvis deceived them both. The incantation he did on Keta, the surprise pregnancy tore these two once lovers apart. Isaak assumed she cheated on them and they had an extremely terrible fallout. It wasn't until the previous day when Elvis finally confessed to not only Keta but El Indio as well. He finally knows that all this anger he held for her as a cheater was in fact an evil manipulation from the main diablero himself. Isaac himself claims he has never loved another woman since her and will always be his forever heartttt. How cute. They flirt a little but Keta chooses not to reciprocate when he goes in for a kiss. Elvis reaches Don Benito but before he accepts to help him, he proceeds to quiz him on various teachings like a child lol. Annoying but maybe it was to test his sharpness or whatever. When he's had enough of the 20 questions he literally BEGS papi to just help to track down a diablera who knows arcane subjucation spells. They hug it out but before he agrees to help, he needs to assist him in catching chupracapras.
Back at the house Ramiro is totally giving Nancy the DTF eyes but he's trying to suppress it. Afterall, it did get him in all this trouble to begin with!
Unbeknownst to them, Keta just walked in but got ambushed by an unknown baddie. Uh oh.
When she comes to, she is tied to a chair with the bag lifted off her head. A yet to be seen dude is prepping to torture the poor woman. He has a torch in one hand and asks her what she knows about the "arrival". She doesn't know WTF he is talking about. He even asks where the children are. Torture gets interrupted with a phone call so she quickly frees herself. After looking out the window, she sees another victim being tortured.
AH SNAP SHE HEARS STEPS! BRO IS COMING BACK!
So she hurries back to her spot to act like she is still bound. He then proceeds to ask about the whereabouts of her son but she bites his hand. He retreats to bring back 'ol torchy. In that very limited time span, Keta is able to make a quickie incantation on her captor to manipulate his movements like a marionette. He lunges at her abruptly after she stood up, she holds up this voodoo thingy and HIYA!!! He folds.
El Indio is seen with a torture of his own. He refers to him as a cellar keeper that is being accused of stealing from him. He proclaims his innocence.
"Okay, then."
He goes to phase 2 where he put the demon juice in dog food and has a little chihuahua feast on it in which the dog becomes immediately a cute little snarling beast with blood red eyes. As he exits the room and lets his goons do the work, he sees Thalia and Pauline bicker. They confess that the cellar keeper is actually innocent. Why? You ask? Because they were the ones who sold this Type 1 demon!!
Oy, chupacabras. Benito takes some of his blood to lure it in those "fucking chupracabras" that keep killing his chickens.
Ramiro walks in on a half naked Nancy and she asks to help dress her. She opens up to him about how painful it was to have that demon possessing her body. She goes on to say that Mariana is lucky to have her. Literally. She reveals that she had an abusive father and she just wanted it all to end. After overheaing about The Holy Death, which is when you pledge your own soul to this feminine entity, she would protect you from any harm. Except that it was a demon who answered her incantation.
As seen in a previous flashback, Elvis was the one who exorcised the demon out of her. She was only 8 years old.
Keta now has a knife to the voodoo doll and she finally sees the face of the one who was torturing her. She quacks at him with a millions questions. What do you know about my son? What the devil is The Arrival? Who are you working for? What do you know about the missing mothers?" All he can muster out is "The Conclave" before she can try to get more info out of him, he slowly inches towards her and purposefully plunges the knife in the doll deeper. A sort of hara kiri or some shit.
She is now free and ninjas her way out of the building that actually blends in well with society and she runs off like the wind, bullseye!
Ramiro and Nancy are now watching TV. However, Nancy is like "Now that I told you my backstory, gimme yours!"
He obliges by saying he originally met Lucia many years ago and were friends which inevitably escalated to love. Things were going swell until he started having nightmares. He couldn't get over the guilt of his younger brother. He was the golden child according to him. After one late night of partying, Ramiro crashed his car resulting in lil bro's death. He was about to commit suicide to escape the guilt.
In the middle of the story, Nancy has a seizure. Ramiro makes a swift action who restores her to normality. She assures him that it is to be expected after a possession. They start giving each other "fuck me" eyes but right when they touch hands, there is an electric shock which sends him flying across the room. To clear his head, he yeets out of there so he'll pop on by the church, leaving the confuzzled Nancy all alone.
Elvis now thinks he's being trolled so hard by Don Benito after the "chupracabra" turned out to nothing more than a black cat. However, he stops him right in his tracks and finally makes the grande reveal that DIABLERAS do in fact exist. Several, actually and they are referred as Xanates. They challenged and won against the men diableros. The reason why they known the subjugation spells is because they stole the OG Black Book.
Back at Chebala's, punishes the kids putting them in this ugly ass room which is unkept and dirty. One of the kids lashes out at Mariana and swears that she is nothing more than a sweet old woman. Before the bickering continues, Margaritas son appears from the darkness to join them asks about his mom.
Don Benito cautions him to stay away from them as they will peck our your eyes as they did to his own mother!!! Holy fuck, dad drops another bomb that she was in fact a diablera. All this time he thought his mom left the family because he was a drunk ass dude. Alas, no. He then finally decides to tell him how he can find them on the condition that he keeps Keta completely out of it. Protective papi. Word.
He comes back to the house to a bruised Keta. They both have muy importante info to share.
Ramiro returns to the church to actually do another sermon for mass. In front of a packed church, he confesses his sins. After the conclusion, 3 men in black tells him to accompany him for a ride. How nice! At the destination, he is met by the aforementioned Father he says to come with him if he wants to know the truth. They enter this fancy shmancy looking building. He is shown advanced writings on the wall.
What he sees next will rock his shit up.
Before him is these advanced writing illuminating. However behind that is....A ZOMBIE LUCIA!!!!!!!!!
