Now: Episode 2 "Weird Al is Dead"
After what she witnessed, Adult Erin locks herself in her room having an existential crisis talking out like "WTF do I tell the police?"
Meanwhile young Erin and her friends are in the front collectively freaking out just as much. They just don't know what the fuck to do either!! Mac sarcastically asks "What are we gonna do? Call time travel 911?!" Then Alexa activates " Do you want to call 911?" And of course the girls being from the 1980s freak the hell out and have no idea what modern technology they are dealing with.
Young Erin decides to confront Adult Erin and they have a little talk once they come to terms that's uh, themselves they are talking to?
Meanwhile the time soldiers get a buzz and find the time capsule the girls came out of and the lead sees a fallen one on the ground. The main leader, known as Prioress, caresses his dead body so it's pretty obvious this was someone she knew. Another in the background asks if they should relay this info to Grandfather. She says NAH!
However, nearby she does find KJ's hockey stick and now she's hot on her tail.
Back at Adult Erin's house she allows the girls to spend the night and figure some stuff out in the morning. Mac, has some other things in mind. Sneaking out to check out the town she once called home. KJ sneaks up behind her scaring the shit out of her and asks what the devil she is doing out this late at night. They sit down while they low key reminiscence on the buildings and who's house is where. The place they were sitting? Well Mac's house was there but got torn down so all that was left was a slab of concrete with her and her brother's handprints and initials. Sweet bonding moment between them two.
Right. So the next morning young Erin wakes up Adult Erin and convinces her to take her and the girls to the spot where they arrived at the capsule so they can gather clues so they can hopefully find a lead to get them back to their original timeline. They start to get bewildered when Adult Erin busts out her smart phone in which she has to explain to them like they're 5. Because again, they're from the 80s and don't know much of anything of modern technology. Tiffany gets a good look at it is like whoa wait that looks familiar. She takes out a black box that actually does resemble a powered down smart phone and she asks if there is a place that could possibly fix it. Remember, the future dude that helped them in the 1st episode have that to Tiffany before they died.
A reluctant Erin rolls her eyes and says she knows a place.
Young Erin and Mac stay behind while Adult Erin, Tiffany and KJ head inside a tech score totes amazed by the big screens and stuff.
Well, it turns out shit because when the tech guy tries to charge it, sparks are flying. Tiffany comes flying across the store and freaks out and has a mini panic attack how that was the only lead they had and without it, they may never get home.
They return back at Adult Erin's house and the girls get introduced to the INTERNET!!!!
Tiffany is especially thrilled to see such an invention since she is the nerdy smart gal of the group so she gets on the laptop to see if she can look up anything that could possibly help them.
Adult Erin and KJ have a brief chat and she asks her what the future is like and what things have changed since her original timeline. Along comes the topic of baseball which Adult Erin is like omg I totally love baseball. Young Erin decides to join in on the conversation and asks what they were talking about. "Oh, baseball? YOU DON'T EVEN LIKE BASEBALL." With the look of annoyance on her face.
To break the awkwardness, Tiffany pipes up with glee and says she found her future self!! She is like a founder of MIT in Cleveland so she wants to hit the road like NOW to find her.
Adult Erin tells her to slow her roll which turns into a huge disagreement between her and Young Erin. She doesn't like that she's holding them back and a lot of mean words little says to big and they just rage quit and storm out of the house.
Adult Erin ends up finding the black box Tiffany accidentally left behind (and proceeded to freak the fuck out once she realized it). She accidently activates it and it is somehow now paired to her with these Alexa like commands.
Meanwhile the girls are chilling at an abandoned mall and do some more reminiscing of what little memories they have. They talk about Debbie Gibson to other various pop culture stuff relating to the mall. Mac ends up blowing up at the girls because since she grew up in poverty, she gets frustrated that everyone is low key ungrateful and focus too much on material possessions. Turns out, she looked up her big brother and despite the girls joking that he's in prison it turns out that her big brother is a doctor. She storms off and plans to go find her brother after finding out where he works.
In this final scene there's these 2 older couple in the front room just general random chat. Ding ding. The wife gets the door. Fucking hell it's Prioress feigning the act of a new neighbor that just moved in. She shows them KJ's hockey stick and asks if it belongs to them. Once she recognizes that they acknowledge it's theirs, camera pans out and out of shot she knocks them out. And a purple light is seen illuminating their house. She walks out triumphantly knowing she is once step closer to finding the rouge paper girls. Concluding this episode.
