Marianne: Episode 1

Hail, Hail! Wilt thou go with us tonight?
There will be a merry company the forest,
and I well-nigh promised the Black Man

-Nathaniel Hawthorne

Episode 1 "Your Dreams"

This episode opens up in a dark and dreary household where a young woman is seen slowly walking around calling out for her mother. In the coldness of this house her mother is in the darkest corner of the kitchen where she is seen prying shit out of her own mouth. After some teeth fall out into the sink, she turns around to her daughter and gleefully says:
Contrast to a completely new scenery, we are now seeing a huge public gathering in some kind of auditorium where Emma, a horror author, is doing a live reading from her own book. The script detailed a daughter finding out that her father is possessed by a witch named Marianne that ends with a not really ending. Taking questions from her audience, one notes that she just read the ending of her own book so... what even?? Her snarky response is IDGAF. Another didn't really like the open ending and once again her response is IDGAF.l  Which kinda stings as it's shown to be the final book in her series, much to the discontent of the audience.

Shortly after there is a book signing and all goes well until she sees a familiar face.

"Caro."

In which there appears a book graphic before our eyes that Chapter 1 is titled "Caroline" implying the IRL connection. Emma tries to chit chat but Caro is having none of that shit. She doesn't even bother asking but TELLING her that she has to go to Elden, their hometown, to seek out her own Mother for she is claiming to be the real Marianne. Emma snaps back that none of that is real because... A writer writes...always. Calling her out on her bullshit again she says she doesn't make it up, it's from her dreams!! Fed up, she reaches in her bag and pulls out a nice gift from her mammy to her and surprise it's from the first scene, hair and teeth. You see, her mom watches her daughter while she sleeps. She eventually had the audacity to close her eyes which led me to the first real moment personally when I felt my heart was about to jump out of my chest

She lifts up her shirt to reveal her mutilated body and proceeds to have a mental breakdown saying she has to go to Elden as she is marked as next and only she can help her. Security drags her away while the entire time Emma is like 😱😱😱

The next scene is Emma and another young lady that she emotionally blackmailed into going out with her are seen having some drinks that same night. She inquires about Caro in which Emma replies that she was an old friend whom she used to confide in about her recurring nightmares as a kid. Her way of coping was putting it all on paper inventing the character of Lizzie to be the protagonist and her nightmares eventually went away. I guess as her way of dealing with the recent events, she takes shot after shot of alcohol despite an unseen dude named Pierre that il s trying to court her for dinner. Whom she is betrothed to.

She didn't make it.

She hops in bed with the fiance that she stood up and tries to sleep. She hears the creaks on the floor and sees shadows and shit just out of reach. A conniving voice even calls for her name. She then wakes up from this nightmare. Pierre, with his back still turned, inquires on her nightmares. Says she deserves it. Jerk. Still trying to seek out comfort, she asks him to turn to face her but is kinda stonewalled. He slowly turns but she is getting the creeps right quick so she tries her best to turn away from him still in the bed. As it turns out, this demonic entity is now speaking through him telling her that she doesn't control when she'll wake up. Emma looks up at the ceiling and sees Marianne, in the form of Caroline's mother with a demonic look on her face. Urging "Come see me!!!"

She wakes up for real this time as it is now morning.

A rude awakening when the second she wakes up, she finds another post it note being the last straw. He wrote that he's taken his most of his stuff and will be back later for it. Oh, and he left her that post it note. Snark knows snark.

Emma heads on to work and immediately is noted that Caroline is here to see her. Obviously not pleased but before much further to be said, Caroline steps over a 3+ story interior overlooking the foyer and calls out for Emma. She claims that her mother wants her to keep writing and that she will "take" her parents after she takes her. Emma tries to calm her down but Caro just tossed a necklace and mentioning a lighthouse which seems to hold some kind of significance. "She never leaves empty handed." And she hangs herself in front of an appalled crowd.

So after that ominous warning, Emma in frequently met with a voicemail when she tries to contact her mother. Her and her assistant decide to drive on over to Elden in which another graphic is before us signifying Elden is the name of Chapter 2 in her book.

She seems to hold a mild hostility towards her parents for sending her to a boarding school hundreds of miles away but deep down she still loves and cares about them which is partially why she just wants to make sure they're safe. A rather reluctant assistant that was supposed to be on break takes on the task of driving her to Elden and away they go.

After asking info about Marianne, Emma replies that the one thing you can count on is that Marriane cannot lie. She can change the topic but she is the wife of a demon. And cannot lie.

As soon as she steps foot in her old stomping grounds she gets a warm welcome from the local priest with a fiesty ass dog on a tight leash. He makes it known she is not welcome and accosts her about the necklace. He warns her that her presence is a kiss of death and anything bad that happens follows her wherever she goes. She replies back "Fuck you, asshole priest!"

They trek out and seek out Caroline's mother which is a boarded up in this shitty dilapidated house. What do ya know? Caroline's mother answers and invites them in. When Emma tries to return the necklace, mother is taken aback but retrieves the necklace into another room. Coming back with tea she slams it down with tea spillage. She then goes on how she loves the books in literally the most menacing way. Emma tries to calm things down with offering to sign one of the many books that are strewn around the house. After asking to whom she wants to write it out to?

"Marianne."

She totally walked right into that one. Things are getting progressively tense the more  morbid she is hinting that she IS Marianne. She still remembers how much Emma suffered from her nightmares after playing with Catherine.

Assistant corrects her and says her name is Caroline.

Mother creepily replies back "WAS. She hanged herself." Now, she claims she prepared a feast for them and proceeds to piss herself. The ever so altruistic assistant Camila gets up to help clean herself up but she grabs her hand and shoves it at her cooch and says "Feel that filth? That's nothing wait until you see actual filth. Emma will...."

Throughout this episode there is a series of quick flashes of pictures this is one of them; blink and you'll miss it!

Being the last straw, Emma and her run the fuck out the house. But not without wet mother marching out of the house that she saw her parents before Catherine and to keep writing.

Emma finally gets to her parents house and sees the same kind of "gift" like from the book signing. It looks like an uninhabited house but she breaks on in and sees various shit around the house. Fearing for the worst goes up the stairs in further filth and to her horror she sees her mom riding her dad just by the stairs. Old people fucking well that really is a fucking horror!!!

Traumatized for life she tries to get the fuck out of there but her mom persuades her to stay for dinner. Camcam is the assistants name! Dinner is a bit awkward but not because of what she witnessed but the hostility her dad holds over her still. He appears to still hold a grudge of what she did to his wife many years ago. Emma got very defensive much to her mother's dismay so she just told everyone to drop it and have a lovely dinner, k?

So Camille and Emma are sleeping in her bedroom from her childhood in which Camille notes that despite what she said about her parents, they do seem to love her, given the situation. Probably trying her best to see the good side of things. In so little words Emma tells her to mind her own beeswax and go to sleep.

Camille wakes up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom but gets skeeved when she hears footsteps creaking. She proceeds to step out of the bathroom and peer over to the living room from her placement in the 2 story house and all of a sudden sees a nude mother of Emma! AAaaahh! But she's not really doing anything much to warrant much creeps. That is, if it weren't for her acting all robotically acting out of norm that she's almost catatonic. She turns over and vomits but things get way creepier when naked Daddy rushes towards Camille on the 2nd floor and freaks her the fuck out. He ends up walking away to join his wife and exit the house which triggers the house alarm.

Emma wakes up from the alarms to a now traumatized Camille and says "YOU PARENTS!"

Emma runs outside and sees her naked parents walk outside to an unknown and strange light. She runs after them trying to find them but her father rushes at her again out of nowhere. These are spry ass old people, eh? He scares the shit out of her but departs her with only one word:

WRITE.

Concluding this episode. What a ride, huh? Non sexually, of course.

Episode 2 is next.
