Hellbound S1E2
Now: Episode 2
Starting where 1st episode ended, Park continues her conversation with Min. After she dropped the bomb that The New Truth wants to broadcast her decent into hell, the lawyer and peeps are shooketh but obviously none more than Park. The reason why she is talking to them and not the police is that she actually wants to accept this offer and wants this on paper the legal way. You see, she is a single unwed mother to 2 children and she wants to make sure her children are taken care of.
Mom the lawyer lady meanwhile visits her mother at the hospital and loses her shit when she sees her smoking. After the dust is settled, they have a heart to heart talk. Min is on the fence whether she believes the hellbound stuff is real or not. Her mother basically laughs in the face of death. She recently got diagnosed with cancer and just wants to live in the now since death is inevitable. Foreshadowing, bruh.
Back at the police station, analysis has came in much to the chief's extreme hostility. The remains from the the previous victim at the scene has tested as not organic human matter. It's not even from a living organism. He's pissed the fuck off and refuses to accept the report. I mean, there was a lot of eye witnesses that saw a man being fried alive so how the heck is the remains from that exact spot not from him or even any organic matter? He's not a happy camper.
This next scene is where everyone's gathering to set the motions in place for Park's deal that she accepted.
To keep things civil and making it official, police detectives sit to monitor the situation while all the other parties are gathering in the front room. Chairman Jun and his posse arrive. Lawyer Min and her posse arrive. They arrive and Park's home and kneel on the floor (customs, yo) with the children in their rooms. Chairman Jung originally albeit lightly protested about Park receiving the money in the case that her hellbound doesn't get broadcasted but Min makes it clear it's already in the papers so suck it up, buttercup. In a very calculating change in time, Jung proceeds to make his inquiry very known that the pictures around him just have her and her kids...but no pappy? What even? Park timidly tries to be vague and say the father isn't present in their lives. But this motherafucka prys and prods and deduces that not only do the children have different fathers but from different MARRIED fathers. Hence, this is why Park got her decree to hell: adultery. The oldest son over hears this and storms out of his room and gives the most heartfelt defense for his mother. Like "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT ABOUT MY MOTHER! SHE HAS DONE NOTHING WRONG! YOU SUCK!". It was a hot mess. Frustrating seeing Jung's reaction. He words everything with a mysterious demeanor and just 😏 the whole time.
Despite this outburst, the deal is sealed. Money is transferred and Park's hellbound is set and word gets spread out. How will any channel pick this up? Who knows but if there's a will there's a way.
The Arrowhead broadcasts the promotion in the latest Livestream but the identity is a Mystery. Someone logged online and legit spilled the beans. Yeah that's right. This person somehow knows the identity and have the name on the livestream in the comments the first and last name and why she got the decree. The Arrowhead rep yelled in glee and almost tearfully thanked this internet commenter. Who is this commentator, you ask? Why it's the detective partner. My oh my what an interesting twist. He is seem unapologetic and chanting arrowhead. The Arrowhead. The Arrowhead. The fuck.
Meanwhile detective gets a call from his daughter and she asks if she can go study chill with a friend? With whom? He asks. Nobody he knows. But he's like "Cool. K, bye". Unbeknownst to him, she is lying. It is in fact Chairman Jung who has closed the door with just the two of them. Please don't fret. There is no sexual intent. They have a chat in which Heejung confesses that her mom was murdered. She blames herself because as she was en route to drop off some clothes to her dad she got sidetracked looking at a dog at a nearby shop. She immediately regrets the second she got home. Forgiving mother says NBD she'll do it. And along that route was when that unfortunate incident happened. Jung gives her a warm hug and assures her she is absolutely not at fault. Today, they will create a world where nobody sins. Whatever that means, bro.
Meanwhile, BREAKING NEWS! Kyunghun gets a text from Min that Park's identity got leaked on the internet and they see her and her children's names on social trending pages. That shit spread FAST! Min is speeding like fuck (not really) on her way to pick up those kids and plans to send them to a safe house in Canada. Unbeknownst to them, it's fruitless as Eunpyo being Kyunghun's partner already gave him the 411 and who the fuck knows who he will relay this info to, if any.
Back to this silly Arrowhead livestream, he is now speculating on what diabolical sin Park REALLY committed to deserve that decree for hell? Did she kill them for insurance money? Bamboozled them? Wtf knows. Someone doxxed even further by getting pics of the kids from social media. The older boy has a bruise on his left arm from just typical roughhousing but of course this gets grossly misinterpreted as child abuse so he's now telling his audience that these kids need to be protected and away from their own mother. Holy shit.
Min gets to Park's house where the kids and packed and ready to go. Extremely tense scene here because now Park is constantly looking over her shoulder fearing that any joe schmoe off the streets may be part of The Arrowhead. They finally arrive at the airport where their mother gives them frantic but encouraging words for the oldest son to watch over his little sister. They make it on the plane with a woman escort. Once they are on the plane, she says she needs to go potty. He has a mini scare when he can't locate her in time but finds her talking to an elderly lady. Relieved, they go back to her seats. The sister then asks when their mom will join them and big bro breaks down in tears. That scene tore my heart up 😭
Jung and Heejung are now sitting in a car in a very sketchy part of the neighborhood where they track down her mother's killer who was given a light sentence and has since been walking free. Jung gives her the chance to take back her power. And she does. She walks behind the man and tases him. Still incapacitated, the once free murderer is tied to a table. He starts to gain consciousness again but Jung knocks him out again with a rag and chemicals (sorry, I forgot the common name for it.. me brain no workin today). He rolls him in a cremation chamber and activate it. Heejung smiles with happy tears down her face how much her mother's killer is writhing in agony being burned alive.
So the next day, his remains are found at a completely other location in some kind of abandoned greenhouse with his ID and that was how the hell they know the identity since burned reminds apparently have no DNA? Kyunghun's superior calls him in the office and shows him the news report on tv asking him if he has anything to do with this? Even if he didn't he cautions him to stay the hell away from that case as he already found it weird that other reporters were on the scene first rather than just calling the police first and foremost.
Min just as quickly received word that all major networks have opted to pick up Park's descent into hell!?? Whaaaatt?!
Meanwhile, Kyunghun is freaking out trying to get a hold of his daughter and is stressed as fuck. Well, he's about to get upstaged as members of the Arrowhead actually break in the police department and wreck shit up.
Min and her partner see the huge gathering and tv networks being set up for this big televised event. There's these chairs for some prestigious VIP members to sit in this outside gathering. They're all wearing masks to conceal their identity for now in which Min takes notice just how big The New Truth actually is
Park takes her seat nervously in her chair with a stupid ol camera pointing right in front of her while she has a million eyes on her now. The countdown has commenced. At the stroke of 1, there's an ominous stomping in the background...
Episode 3 is next.
