Creepshow S1E1

Creepshow is an anthology tv show that originally came out on Shudder in 2019 originally based on the movies in the 80s. Each ~40 min episode includes 2 individual stories spanning a whopping 3 seasons.

Sorry about the annoying half circle. Didn't know my leveler would be visible in my phone's GIF maker. D'OH!

To start off my TV review series what better pick than Creepshow? I remember watching the movies as a kid but The Nightmare on Elm Street series unfortunately overshadowed that. I am pretty excited to start my episode posts on this blog but please be warned I will likely discuss possible spoilers however I will try to avoid to be overly specific but needless to say some things are pretty obvious.

SEASON 1 EPISODE 1 - GRAY MATTER/THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD

Gray matter starts off on a rainy night where 3 people are stuck at a closed diner until a teenage boy enters. He seems a bit shaken up and he asks the police in the diner to check up on his father which the 2 oblige. The woman stays behind and inquires him further about what is up with his father.

Not good, bro.

The boy tells the woman about the gradual decline before his very eyes how his dad's demeanor and overall appearance has shifted into something more...unsettling. Unfortunately that's something the police have figured out quite quickly.

THE HOUSE OF THE HEAD

This next story involves a little girl named Evie that is gifted a one of a kind dollhouse that she greatly enjoys. She dubs the family the Smith Smiths. Yeah. The Smith Smiths.

She very quickly observes something amiss. A random ass decapitated head on the table!? She's troubled by it but closes her dollhouse and continues her day.

The next time she opens her dollhouse, she notices a shift in scene each time. Family members are in different rooms but most importantly, their facial expressions change to a more frightened one. The decapitated head frequently changes positions. Every time any of the items move, it's never caught in anyone's eye sight (Toy Story vibes anyone??)

However, the scene keeps escalating so Evie and her mom go to the store from where the dollhouse originated to perhaps get a doll priest or something but recommended a Native American as they are known to be very spiritual.

She firmly believes this Native American will help this family but things take such an even more disturbing turn. It was revealed when she finds him bloodied and decapitated and she nopes the fuck out. She realizes she has had enough of this shit and soon after just gets rid of the dollhouse altogether unfortunately unto another unsuspecting owner.
